#35 Beer and Sausage Bar Tool Knife

So micarta are sent out first? Or do they wait until all variations are complete to send orders out.?

It looks like the micarta version will go out first. They won't hold on to them once they are finished. Unless they got a new shipment of bone in, the ebony version may be next.

It would be cool maybe once they are out to hear the process that came up with this one. I don’t know that it happens but it would be neat. Assuming you love the blade and maybe or maybe not the spork and comb how hard is a blade or two delete?

Outside my depth and certainly wouldn’t practice on a gec but I could see it happening if sales go flat on these and guys decide to experiment a bit. It will just be a specialty knife i take out for social occasions to bore my non-knife friends.

I dont understand. Why not leave it as is and just not use what you dont want to use?
If I really hated the brrr but liked the blade and sausage stabber I could see dropping it to reduce thickness. Purely speculation on my part, if it’s 2 springs it wouldn’t matter would it?

you are gonna get some canting on the blade if its on other springs and having a blade removed is gonna throw off the centering on the main blade. However, if each blade is on its on spring, than should work out mostly ok. However almost all of my two bladed knives that have had a blade removed saw some changes to centering even if its a little. Some were refined when I visited gec during the rendezvous. Always remember it really makes you put more money into a knife tho. Boy I wish gec made knives the way I wanted them to be  Bill always took my suggestions with a smile and a nod :D. I swear tho, I almost convinced him to do a one of special sterling silver slabbed tc barlow. Almost. I even held the tc skeleton parts in my hand at the other rendezvous.

I’ve detailed the process a couple times, once maybe here (Edit:maybe let’s talk GEC) and once maybe in the modified traditionals thread I’m not positive though.

It wouldn’t reduce the thickness at all no. It would also increase the difficulty quite a bit. I have someone that sent me a few case sow belly cattle knives who wants one blade removed so I’ll have to make a bit to hold the opposite end of the spring in place so it functions properly.
That's a question is the on 3 springs?
I think it has to be 3 springs because all the blades are full length.

Lol, like most things the answer is probably already written down somewhere. I’ll go digging around for it. In my head I picture Mr Howard spinning around in a swivel chair and saying, “you know what they love the beer and soda scout so let’s give them even more options. Put a beard comb and a sausage stabber/bottle opener combo on that one”.

In my head GEC is a very willy wonky place.

I enjoy reading these comments. It feeds my unbounded cynicism. We have a plethora of comments trying to justify the acquisition of a truly dumb pocket tool. Whip this baby out among your neighbors and experience the distancing due to suspicions of mental derangement.

Your "truly dumb" is other folks' "truly interesting". Politely, it's as simple as that. Disparagement about "mental derangement" isn't really required.

I don't understand why some people feel the need to comment, with big fancy words, on a discussion about a knife that they find "truly dumb." I guess it's just to show how smart you are?

I think; however, that the point being made is valid. I think it is a sign that if the second thought among so many fans (the first being the decision to buy/want one) is "how do I make this knife better" then something is "not right" about the B&SK. Again, I think all the frenzy is FOMO.
