#35 Beer and Sausage Bar Tool Knife

I don't understand why some people feel the need to comment, with big fancy words, on a discussion about a knife that they find "truly dumb." I guess it's just to show how smart you are?

Dear Karen, Your large avatar sword is impressive.

I just wanna move to that place where when you "whip out" one of more obscure GEC knives the neighbors instantly recognize it and judge you.

I think I just might fit in.

Right? Let me know when you get there, and if you have a realtor's number, shoot it to me in PM!

I think; however, that the point being made is valid. I think it is a sign that if the second thought among so many fans (the first being the decision to buy/want one) is "how do I make this knife better" then something is "not right" about the B&SK. Again, I think all the frenzy is FOMO.[/
I’m not a big multi-blade fan so I find myself looking at some multi-blades like the 92s, or 06s or 56s where I can’t easily find a single blade in a handle material I like and wondering what kind of cost would be associated with loosing a blade.

OK folks, If you want to snipe at each other, this isn't the place for it. Everyone's entitled to have an opinion on whether they like or don't like this offering. Keep it respectful and don't make it personal.

That's certainly the truth.

I'd question that. Bail&Chain 15s are still available, 12 Toothpicks were slow to sell, the 62 run although keenly received & used stayed around for some weeks.

FOMO has many origins, none of them rational nor admirable. It has been ignited by Social Media, add GEC's recent decision to halt SFOs pro tem being viewed as a potential scarcity factor (illogical) Most of all, enhanced by avarice at seeing inflated prices for some models on the Bay et al.

Your observations are all accurate, however they all happened prior to this point. Prior to the aforementioned SFO halt.

I wonder what the reaction to this would have been if this was 77 barlow and not a 35? I'm sure a few of the people that say they hate this knife would be fighting to get one just because its on a 77 barlow. :D

Perhaps, don't forger the Covid shutdown too which may have distorted matters but the 62s were available for a long while during this scenario. The SFO decision should be viewed as temporary because of this Covid factor in my view. Furthermore, GEC concentrating on bigger runs rather exposes the bogusness and futility of FOMO, but more means less to some types ;):D

:eek::D

Not I ;)

You want to put a Comb or Nail-clipper on this? :D:D Kind of perversion in fact! Nor do I think @knifeswapper would countenance it

It can also be narrowed down to the CK early reserve system which triggers this response. A reserve closing in minutes is not always an indication of how the knife will be received.

I had to look that word up... thanks Will, I learned something today!

I would tend to agree with your assessment. I've run some numbers (*), and it looks like for every run of 400 knives put out by GEC...
- 1 is bought by a person who actually needs a knife to cut something
- 22 are bought by people wanting that specific pattern
- 82 are bought by people wanting to try something new
- 105 are bought by flippers, who will outrageously turn around and sell them, for a large profit
- 190 are bought by collectors, who will take a few pictures, then put them away for a while before graciously letting them go a few at a time as downsizing, for a large profit.

* numbers are based on sarcasm, skepticism, and some degree of truth

And this can be said about all GEC products at this point.

Really? Seems like its pretty easy to find retail sellers with 06s, 12s, 38s, 62s, 81s, 97s, some still with 23s, and even my beloved 15s. Even the remaining 15s have a fault to many, the B&C...thus all the discussion on how to remove. Current situation surrounding the B&SK is completely different.

A akaMatt Very funny:thumbsup: But a ring of truth my friend ;)

Which word did you look up? Enhance or Avarice?;) It's one of the 7 Deadly Sins.....

Exactly. GECs were going for large markups well before the recent announcement.
