4.7 Mystery Steel Reveal Day - April 22!

Ellie,
Any comments on the heat treat you can share? Did you develop something special/proprietary? What hardness do you achieve?

TR

Cool, Cru forge V looks to be a pretty good high carbon steel, should be a good alternative.

Curious to see the price different in other models, a $20 difference between the Cru forge V and 3V in the 4.7 isn't much, I would go 3V everytime but there might be a bigger price difference in the bigger blades for Cru forge V to be a good economic choice. JMHO.

And knives are still available on S!K.

Doctor Jenks - google is your friend. I just did a bit of research myself (there are several threads on this steel here on BF). It's a high-quality forging steel that has better wear resistance that the 10xx steels, 52100, etc.

I think the people who guessed correctly should get one of the samples, if there are any left!

Please don't punish me, Ellie!!

While that would certainly be fantastic I, for one, have no expectation for a reward. It was just really cool to just do the research, I felt like I was on a mission. After I read Junyard's review last Friday on the 4.7 Mystery Steel knife, I immediately went ahead and ordered one. After learning what the steel is, I couldn't be happier. Of all of the knives I have their is nothing in Cruforge V and I don't know anyone that has a Cruforge V knife so this is really cool!

Something tells me Spyderco made a run with this steel in the PM2 or Milltary

Congratulations Guy and Ellie. Even the logo looks good.
