4-Max?! USA Made, CPM-20CV, Cold Steel?! This can't be happening!

I'd rather have to wait for it than have them rush it out half-assed. For all of me they can take their darn time if they deliver a quality product in the end.

Yes true I would like a quality product.
The frustuation part is ,why say you are delivering a product in 2015, have dealer's pre-order it and them make people wait ??, and have no reply to the customers who have been waiting based in what they said, why not make an announcement saying, sorry the production of the max folder is taking longer than we thought etc....
Is call courtesy .

Based on what they said? They said it would be out in 2015. It's still 2015. They NEVER said it would be out "early 2015", so frankly, if comes out Dec 31, 2015, at 11:59 pm, then they STILL delivered EXACTLY what they promised. If you want to bitch, bitch to the site you ordered it from, for putting it up for pre-order despite not having any idea of the actual release date.

The post I quoted, from you, pretty much fits the definition exactly, though. You were complaining about it not being released yet, implying they somehow didn't do what they said they would, griping about having to wait cause you pre-ordered it, and unhappy that Cold Steel won't explain why a 2015 product hasn't been released while it's still 2015...newsflash mate, all that put together? That's bitching.

Squabbling aside, I think Rio hit the nail on the head. It is simple courtesy. I also want a product ready to go, with no issues, when it hits market. If you are going to announce a new item, announce it closer to when you are READY to get it to market. It doesn't build anticipation when you keep people in the dark. Call me old fashion, but it has nothing to do with not being willing to wait, it has a lot to do with teasing, then crickets for almost a year, then more crickets when people start asking whats up, then people attacking each other over the big WHEN? It gets old, and is not good business. Will the knife do well when it surfaces? No doubt. Will Cold Steel care about frustrating it customer base? Probably not.

Why are you so personal involve about this?, are you working for cold steel? Sounds like it, no they do not owe me or anybody an explanation it is their business but why would I complain to the dealers? They go by what cold steel says no?,
What I'm saying is simple , a heads up we are running late with this folder, end of the story , is not much to ask, after all we do want to buy it and expend our hard earned cash on their product.

To be fair, as long as I can remember Cold Steel doesn't do mid year announcements. They seem pretty committed to have everything they're planning on producing in the catalog in January/February. I can understand the frustration, but that seems to be their policy and it seems unlikely they would break policy for one knife, no matter how exciting.

Why are you so personal involve about this?.

Cause I get tired of people continuing to gripe and complain about an item not being out when it is STILL WITHIN the item's announced time frame. Cold Steel makes their announcements early in the year, and the announcement includes EVERY SINGLE ITEM due out from January to December. Condor is the same way, they announce their new releases in the summer, and it will trickle in, some will be out in the summer, and some you may not see till December, Kershaw also does the same, also early in the year like Cold Steel. It's pretty common, actually, for knife companies to announce the lineup for the whole year at one specific point, then release the stuff throughout the year. Seeing impatient people griping and complaining and feeling entitled to explanations because CS's 2015 stuff isn't out when they still have 2 months left to release it on time gets annoying. If CS says it's due out in summer, then its not out by November? Yes, by all means, complain. If they say an item is coming out in August, then it's not out when August end, sure, perfectly reasonable to be unhappy with them. But when they say an item is due out in 2015, then you start demanding to know where it is in October, and acting like they're breaking their promise when the year still has 2 months remaining, just seems rude.

I don't have a release date on this knife yet. Possibly May / June.
As soon as I know more I'll give you a better answer :)
Thanks

Maybe this caused some confusion or expectation.

This much-anticipated 4-Max seems to have been delayed based on some posts by Cold Steel reps. However, I think it's worth the wait plus everyone wants a near-perfect specimen at those prices.

Based on the Tri-Ad lock CS folders I already have, especially the severely overbuilt ones (Spartan, Black Rhino) I'm predicting that the 4 Max will forever put an end to question which is the strongest production folder. It's also very good looking. And it even looks like it might be a good slicer.
So however long it takes, that's how long I'll wait, before I buy it. No amount of whining and crying is going to make it happen any faster, not that I feel much need. Stopped doing that when I was four. ;)
And when it's finally released, it will be in short supply. More waiting. There might even be some flipping going on in the beginning. Don't go for it. Curb your instant gratification urges. If you want this knife, it will be yours. It sure will be mine.

I feel as though Cold Steel has already done that with their other folders, but I'm definitely getting one, too, even if I have to save up for months to get it.

I am still in favor of renaming this thing the Hold Out 4. Cuz they're holding out on us.... Ahaw ahaw haw...

4 the max time that they can! :D

In all seriousness, I'm happy to be patient. I'd much rather a quality product than a rushed one, especially at that price point.

Yep, couldn't agree more. Don't wanna spoil this one by having to send it back with flaws, imperfections or even defects. Better get it right in one take.
