Mike and Judy, a big congratulations to you both!

Been married 26 years and don't know the secret to a long lasting marriage but maybe I will 24 years from now. Maybe it's just to have a short memory for the disagreements and a long memory for the good times and learn from past mistakes.

This is not an entry but couldn't pass up the chance to send my best wishes!
 
Congratulations on your 50 years, Mike. That's the goal for all of us.

I've been married for 8 years now, so not long enough to have the secrets down yet. I do agree with you that you have to share your faith. We also find things that we have in common and focus on those. We both love camping, so that's a large part of our lives when weather permits. Kids help a lot, too. With three little ones running around we don't have the time or energy to fight or hold hostility towards each other.

Thanks for the opportunity on the trappers. They are beautiful knives.

25 years here for me and the Wife. Not sure hows she has put up with me that long but im sure happy she did!
 
50. Wow. That's spectacular! I was just at a wedding, and the "anniversary dance" ended up with a couple winning that had been together for 67 years! Not much longer, and you'll have that beat!

I, myself, am on my 20th year. Our "secret" has been Honesty, at all times. Well, not so much perfect honesty, but a no-secrets sort of thing. We address issues immediately, and don't let anything fester. If I screw up, I admit it, and we work through it. If we have a problem, we talk about it. Plus a trust in God that we can make it through ANYTHING! It's a choice, and we've made it.

Thanks for being generous on a momentous occasion.
 
Congrats on 50 years. I'm at 0 years and holding as I haven't found anyone crazy enough to marry me. :D:D

Not an entry, as I am a fixed blade guy and this great knife should go to someone who would appreciate it more than I would.

Congratulations Mike, Ann and I have 33 yrs the 13th of this month. I think our secret is the fact we met in church and have based our marriage on the Word of God.

Wow, congrats, what a milestone. And very generous gaw. What a beauty.

We are coming up fast on our 22nd anniversary. It's been a ride. Your advice is probably the best, but sometimes I just have to treat marriage like a roller coaster, just put your arms in the air, scream a little, then accept whatever crazy thing comes next. ;).

The GAW is a Remer Stone Custom Case Trapper in stage and turquoise. I bought this knife a couple of years ago for $200.00. It did come with an off center blade. Never bothered me so I never sent it back. It’s a beautiful knife comes with display box and certification if I can find it.

GAW RULES: Must have posted at least 50 messages in the Traditional forum and your membership to BF started BEFORE March 1, 2015.

RULE MODIFICATION: Consolation GAW for any one regardless of join date or number of messages. A Small Canal Street Trapper.

Post in the thread that you’re in-- and if you’re married and want to tell us how long you’ve been hitched and what your secret to a good marriage is—that would be great—but not required. My secret? Love God first then my wife—and be a good listener—to both.

This isn't an entry for your GAW; I just wanted to let you & your lovely wife know, how nice it is seeing a couple weather the ups & downs of life, & stick together for the Golden Years. :thumbup:
 
Thanks John Lee...very kind words. Judy still talks about sitting on the patio deck in LA Jolla watching us drink beer and talk knives.

Congrats on the 50 years! Not an entry, but just wanted to say great job to the both of you. We'll be celebrating 27 years in a couple weeks, don't know how she puts up with me...
 
Congratulations to you both, Mike! I also like your advice!

Joanne and I have been married 38 years, and we listen to each other regularly! An update chat at the end of a work day is/was a great way to wind down. We will both be retired - me last year, and Joanne December 31st - soon, and plan to keep up the tradition!!

I usually decline GAs but being a turquoise fanatic, I'd love a fair chance to help you celebrate!!
