#78 American Jack

Man, I love that Houndstooth shield! Congrats on the beautiful knives everyone! Too big for me to ever carry, but I sure do like looking at them.

Ahhh, thanks! I needed that. We will have very similar families of 78s once mine make it here.

I think it’ll be the perfect size family .
Not to big but small enough to grow some more if need be :D

Flitz the blade etch on mine, it will be completely gone once a patina develops...time to start using this sucker!

Looks good !!
I’m easy to please I like it with or without the etch lol .

Well done on the group photo of 78s ArchiveMoto. Hopefully we will get another round of them in a couple of years.

For those with the NF jigged bone and smooth white bone, which one stands out more to you now that they are in your hands?

Placing an order today and having a difficult time deciding between these two?
That’s a tuff one because I love them both . You really can’t go wrong with either one imo . Here’s a couple close ups , hope it helps you decide .

Anyone seen the Stags yet? I thought for sure someone would have them available beginning today

Wish I did although have one on reserve but it’s a standby reserve which I’m guessing means I have a chance at any cancellations.

I came up short snagging all of the 78 singles that I wanted, possibly because I wanted too many to begin with... it is crazy how 3 out of 14 somehow still doesn't seem like enough. I'm going to keep a lookout for some Micarta, a Stag, an Appaloosa and a Blue Bone, but in the meantime I just needed to see them all lined up. This has been a tremendous run, each will no doubt be heirlooms in my family.

Now that’s one impressive spread:thumbsup:
Now I’m hoping they’ll be a clip point run . But then again that might get expensive

Received my NF jigged bone. It is great looking. Good strong pull, centered blade.
Nitpick warning:
As has been noted, the edge near the tip is horrific.
Also the tip when closed is nearly proud of the liners, I can catch the fat of my finger on it.
If I were to fix the edge, the tip will be that much closer to pricking your finger.
Im just gonna use and carry it and sharpen/grind the kick as necessary. No regerts!

I love them both too, went with the smooth white bone. Just had to put a set of tires on my truck or I would’ve pulled the trigger on both. I’m happy that I was able to pick one up. Thank you for posting those pics.

I think you made a great choice !
The smooth white bone I think is very classy

You made me look lol so just checked mine”again” and guess I got lucky it has none of the above issues . Actually every one is near perfect . Not trying to boast just giving GEC credit were credit is deserved

Ya the tip on my blade is really good. Also to note, there is no sharp parts on the knife liners either. GEC knocked it out of the ball park with this run!!!! May try and grab another, we will see.

I've never considered myself much of a collector, but more of an "accumulator" of knives I like to use. However, I would say the budding collector in me has already given me cause to acquire more than one of these 78s and part of me wishes I could have justified going in on the entire run. I think my better half would certainly have to step in at that point to inform me I have a problem....

I am pretty happy with the ones I have acquired though. I will end up with 3 once my Ebony gets here. The only SFO I really regret not jumping on is the one with Ironwood covers, I will be keeping an eye out for one to pop up in the exchange in the future.

Otherwise, the White Bone is going to be my user and the Ebony will sit pretty in the case until special occasions warrant a special, classy knife to be carried. The jury is still out on the 2 blade Cocobolo... The wood on it is simply gorgeous and it being a 2 blade version makes for a chunky knife for regular carry. Perhaps on days when I feel like carrying only one knife.... (which is like never....)

This was indeed, a large and terrific run, certainly a memorable one and I think we will be talking about these knives quite a bit for a couple of years before they decide to do another run in the future.

Just got the email that the tortoise shell NFs are in. Those that preordered can pay on Monday. Generally not a huge fan of acrylic myself but I really like this one.

Just saw on IG the stags are shipping this week and next. Lawdy...

Were these all preorders, or am I going to have to buy. another. knife??

I went with the Ironwood and a Cocobolo, but sure like that Peach Seed!
We all knew it was going to happen, but it still really irritates me to see these being flipped already on the big auction site!
