#9 Esquire

Lovely little knife. Wish it had half stops. It seems to be the same thickness as my 1 bladed pemberton. Blade on pemby is longer and bigger. Handle on esquire is not as tall as pemberton and a tad bit longer. Cant wait to throw it in my slacks' pocket tomorrow.

Great shot of the grey pearl. Looks to have a lot of character and depth in the acrylic. Mine should arrive tomorrow, eagerly waiting. I just may end up with a few of these as I love a slim pen. Gotta a feeling these are still going to be on the chunky side compared to the best of the past. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

It would be nice to see a shot of how the blades lie in the well ;)

Nothing about this knife is chunky but I dont have much to compare it to. The only knife that I own that is slimmer is my spyderco cricket which is thinner by a hair. I took some shots for you of the blades. Best I could pull off with my phone.

Awesome shot, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Definitely not chunky and bolsters almost look like they have some taper to them. Nice. Looks about 3/8" or so thick? When I get mine I will shoot it along with a couple old Keen Kutter and NY Knife pens that set the standard for slim for me. The KK is a 3 1/4" pen measuring a mere .300" across the bolsters, the NYK even thinner.

The site has the Northfields marked as next up so I am intrigued to see what the rest of the handles look like.

Really Sweet little knife!
Thanks for the photos
I think comparing it to your single blade Pemby is very useful too. May we see a end view of the knives sitting on their backsprings please, maybe also laid on their sides, spine to spine.. ?

Much trimmer in the pocket, that's for sure. I just wish they had done this as a jack, so the blades could have been longer.

Why do I like this knife so much lol

So against what I am normaly drawn towards. Waiting to see the nortfields for sure

thanks!
Looks like the esquire uses thinner backspring and blade stock than the primary on a Pemberton.
makes sense for a small, thin, light, single spring pen knife with little blades.. looks great, congrats!

I'd like to see this pattern as a jack as well.

that would be a Peanut, something Gec is unlikely to do, for pricing reasons.. case nuts are half the price of a small Gec

What do they call those liners on small knives that look worked, but it is really how they are cut? Sawtooth or sawcut liners?

That would be sweet ;)

I would say a pull of 4-5 on both blades, no softly sprung secondary here. While surely diminutive, it is by no means a dainty knife. F&F below average for GEC with a slight gap on backspring and some rough areas on the edge of the grey pearl covers. The spring doesn't bother me and I already cleaned up the rough spots with some 800 grit paper. All in all a great pattern for dress or EDC carry. As people friendly as they come, nice cover choices and solidly built. Will own more than one of these for sure. Comparison pics to follow.

I'm in love. Can't even feel it in my pocket. Used it to cut a string off my shirt this morning. Probably one of the sharper GEC's I've received. Mine also has a slight gap on the spring but it doesn't bother me at all. Perfect for what I want it to be. Great law office edc, just don't expect to be cutting food w it.
