#9 Esquire

Semi-interested if the pull is not too soft. Also I have yet to see a good picture of the jigged bone version. I do know it will probably be a slicer. My GEC 1/2 Congress gets sharp as all get out due to the thin blades. The Esquire looks like it will have the same very thin blades.

Liners yes, if the coining is fine mill. But including the bolsters as well is too odd for my taste, it will work on a shadow knife but this just looks like it's been chewed or gimping applied....:D Also, I think a small pattern like this demands simplicity/ finesse. Fortunately, we are all different.

I ordered a tidioute white pearl acrylic yesterday. I'm lately really into pen knives and smaller pocket knives. Can't wait for it. I'll also pick up a MOP Northfield up when they are released.

Some more Northfields, I like the small etches and the new liners! Also, the marks in the bolsters might make for a better grip on such a small knife.

I'm shocked at the scalloping. Sure didn't see that one coming. I think it's a bit severe though, I sure like the Northfield version (as I always do) of GEC's knives. But the scalloping I just can't get into. Maybe it'll grow on me, but at the moment I'm still trying to absorb this curveball!

The long-pull? YES! Small etch? YES! Cocobolo? YES! Pen with Coping secondary? YES! Scalloping? Huh???

GEC is both brash, and brave! In hand is where the truth is! Gotta see them!
I have ordered two, one as a gift!

If all of the northfields are scallopped, I won't be ordering one, I just don't like the look.

I just checked one out. It is very pocketable and comfortable in the hand. In the specimen I saw, the blades were rubbing. I decided to wait until they release a single blade version, because I don't need the secondary blade and could use a little bit more length for the main blade. A shield is also needed, but I do like the pattern and size. I think it will be very popular among the smaller knives.

I am happy with the coining/scalloping and think it adds a little extra touch of class to the already classed up NF line. I ordered a stag version even though these might be more suited to a pearl/LVS variant; I just like stag on the wee ones like the 33s. Looking forward to it.

To my eyes, that works better with the stag, than the other handle options. And I really can't get onboard with the kirinite/acrylic/MOP they are using...

The scallops dont look so bad on the stag, very nice!

Next time they scallop the liners on a knife they should leave the bolsters alone or make it bare ended. But I do give them an A for effort

The pulls on my sample are satisfyingly firm, around a 6.

Love it. Thanks for sharing.

I'm real close to pulling the trigger on this one, but I'm dying to see some peanut comparison shots. Can anyone oblige? especially helpful would be some comparison shots of the "master" blades. Thanks in advance!
