9 mm is for sissies 45 is for real men

You sure do base a lot of your manliness on the gun or knife you carry.

I can't quite understand your logic, though. How does a large knife compensate for anything related to a handgun? Or how does having a larger caliber mean you don't have the need for a large knife?

I can see the idea that people who pair "biggest" with "best" would carry both the larger caliber and the larger knife, but what you said just doesn't make sense to me. Except to take a potshot at 9mm users, maybe?

My .357mag laughs at your **language** .45acp. ;)

That is hilarious, thank you for making my day. But seriously, only MANLY MEN would carry a spud cannon with a 7000 grain potato, thats some serious firepower, and after impact, you got some mashed taters for dinner, 2 birds with one stone.

I think Kenny Powers summed it up best when he said "I'm a bulletproof tiger"!!! Showers are for wimps too, I use steel wool and gasoline!!

Are you sure he wasn't referring to Gary Busey? :D

Of course, we all know that Jerry Busse is JWBlueproof! :p

I carry a snub nose 44 mag, That's right and if i don't hit my target i can blind them and blow out their eardrums with the concussion and muzzle blast. :D So far so good.:p

I think you are right, Gary Busey just saved a kid from a car wreck last week, and from what i have heard from hollywood stories, his nose is definately bulletproof, I need to watch Point Break when I get home. Good post

"Utah, make it 2!"

What make on the .44 snub? I've considered one just for the hell of it but if i'm carrying a revolver, I prefer a small jframe for pocket carry.

Just kidding Mike although i have had 4 or 5, 44's mainly smiths. I did have a really nice 3" smith 629 limited edition unfluted cylinder. My buddy talked me out of it though. I typically carry an airweight with speer goldots made for a snubby. I was just getting in on the pis%ing contest.;)

230 grain, Smith and wesson makes a titanium cylinder scandium alloy frame snub nose, i think a few years ago they offered one with a 3 or 4 inch barrel, my pops has one and hotloaded it for his friend who was going into bear country and it almost flew out of his hand, it is really lightweight though heres a link of their current version, at the bottom, it shows that you can get .44 mag if you want

If you'll go back, you'll see I'm responding to RoyalM's theory that .45 shooters would also be attracted to bigger knives. I can see how he might get there but believe the theory is flawed.

You see, it isn't the gun or knife that makes manly men manly. It's just that manlier men tend to gravitate toward manlier firearms which are, indeed, more effective than smaller calibers everything else being equal. While it is true that a well-placed shot with a 9mm is way more effective than a miss with a .45, it is also true that a well-placed shot with a .45 will do more damage than the 9mm.

My logic parallels the Napoleanic complex theory whereby little/short dudes often feel the need to act extra baddass and tough to compensate for being vertically challenged. Most big dudes I know seldom do this. We don't need to. Our manliness is simply apparent.

Translating this into the 9mm vs 45 debate -- real men, in all their manliness, who can handle a .45 (or a .357 -- which is the manlier version of the 9mm) already know how manly they are and, therefore don't require the theatrics of having a large knife in an attempt to demonstrate their manliness.

9mm users, on the other hand, already know they are sissies for not being able to handle a big boy caliber. As a result, my theory is that they may seek a larger knife to compensate.

OF COURSE I was taking a shot at 9mm users. That's the point of this whole ridiculous thread -- which I hope no one is taking seriously.

Yes i've handled that model smith its really light. I don't think i'd care to shoot that one much with full house loads.
The regular 629's and blue steel 29's kick enough witout getting into the flyweight 44 mags.

Guns are for sissies! Get me good and pissed off and I'll kill you at 100 yards with my soup spoon.

I have a ninja turtle pizza shooter somewhere in my closet, and it still works. d762Nato, i see your point, i guess the only upside is that it is lightweight and you would hardly feel it on you hiking, he bought it specifically for grizzly protection in alaska, so i guess if you were getting chased by one you would be so tense that the .44 +P would still not seem to kick that much, i wouldnt want to go on a pleasure shoot with it either

Who is .5 for then? Someone is going to post that after all the recent hub bub.

I'd like to know if there's a correlation between calibre and the Busse you choose. Are all guys who shoot .22 carrying AD's and all guys shooting 45 and bigger carrying BM's?

LOL

Guilty :o

I like mouse guns and EDC's round town.

7 +1 hopefully gets me to 13 +1 which hopefully gets me to ;)

.... or the h out of Dodge !

I have fired exactly one round from one of these lightweight .357s. It's like being whacked in the hand with a shovel handle. I'll stick with my Ruger SP-101 .357 snubby thank you.
