940-1's are shipping now..................

:eek:Congrats to everyone getting one of these, my budget says no on this one, oops, wife says I have no budget!

CRAP! I forgot about the "First Production" markings... Ugh... mine is in the mail, and I was stoked to get it, but the only writing I like is the "Limited Edition".. I can't believe I forgot they did that. I wanted a clean blade. :\

I would be glad to take take your blemished 940-1 off of your hands... Say, $100? :D

My po is shipping from bhq today. They called my house to authorize. My wife answered and asked the price. She is now po'd about the po. Very pricy and my last bm for the year.

Pics from the Bay of e:

Thanks! I found this kind of strange - I looked at 4-5 regular vendor sites, and none of them show that side of the knife blade in their pics. I don't blame the folks getting one of these from a regular vendor being upset. I know I am glad this thread was posted as I sure don't want that extra text on the blade.

I'd guess that's not so much about the vendors trying to hide it as they wanted to only take pictures of the knife once, and later batches won't have the writing, so it simplifies their life to take pictures accurate to both.

that is the reason we do it. :) Also, we don't usually take a pic of the back anyway.

Mine arrived, courtesy of the good folks @ KSF. Two days OR to MA - not bad! I'd love to complain about BM's price, or discover some F&F QA problem, or something like that - but I can't. :o :D *This* is the 940 I've wanted since I bought my 940S-701. The 940 really shows off carbon fiber beautifully, and having a trim little lightsaber with an S90V PE blade is just plain great.

Just got mine it's amazingly light and I love how the carbon fiber feels in hand. Much warmer than the aluminum!

I just checked, and I now have a tracking number from Benchmade on mine. So I only have to wait for it cross from one coast to the other.... This will be by far my most expensive knife, although with some public safety discounts I was able to get the wife's consent (approval might be too strong)

This will be my off duty, casual/dress knife for now. For some reason a Kershaw Blur just doesn't seem to go with a suit. And I don't feel right without at least one blade.

My only fear, is that this will lead to more niche/occasion knives.

Congrats.

Mine was also ordered on 4/22 and OR to CA should've been here today too! Did yours go out Priority Mail and did you pay extra for that? I opted for free shipping.

Anybody who ordered from Knife Center get any tracking orders yet? I'm regretting ordering from them now. Wish I went with my standard stores.

#350, damn 1st production run. Nice materials and overall package but in comparison to recent releases of similar materials by competitors a barely usable although even edge. And lacking attention before boxing up.

^^^^^This is why I'm really starting to hate buying Benchmades sight on seen but have no choice since the local dealer stocks nothing but Plastillians and a few other models. Nearly each knife I've received (including a 51 I waited on for months) have had bad fit and finish or the edge bevels were shoddy and uneven. Its a royal pain to buy a knife then wait weeks while you ship it across the country to have it fixed to the way it should of been from the get go. No wonder their service department is so backlogged.

BUT last week I ordered a 527 from GPK and they specify on their site to mention in the comments if you want them to inspect the knife before shipping. Just list your concerns and they will look at it first as this saves trouble for both parties. Long story short I got my first Benchade in a long time with both good fit n' finish, centered bladed, AND even bevels...hallelujah!

Keeping my fingers crossed that my specimen from KSF arriving tomorrow will be good to go!

Mine is from KSF, just contacted them for return. The Contego brought me back around to BM, "clear" M4 and M390 versions were just about perfect, but we shouldn't have to tweek and massage a $263 knife from a prominent production company.
