940-1's are shipping now..................

My local dealer has one in stock and man, are they light. If that is 2.9 oz., I can't wait for my ZT 0770CF at 3.0 oz!

Agree, the one I saw said 334 of 750 and I didn't like the look of it on the blade. Took away from it IMO also.

And at $281.99, no kidding, it was a no-go. Especially when we could not center the blade after 20 minutes of trying, too. Unacceptable for that much money.

Now of course all of them won't be like that, and if you are a fan of the 940 this is a nice one. Won't scratch the handle just putting it in and taking it out of your pocket either.

And did I mention light?! :congratulatory:

#379 here. Perfectly centered. Went to work with me today. Feels good in the hand, looks bitchin. $258 well spent. My other daily driver is an XM 18 with carbon fiber scales and blue spacers. This little scalpel is the little brother of that one for more light duty.... Probably carry it on days I am NOT shooting in the studio.....

I received mine just now! The CF is very nice.

Unfortunately, the blade is completely to one side and it will not be corrected using the usual method. The blade is not sharp and the grind uneven and thinner on one side. Sending it to Benchmade. VERY DISAPPOINTED! It's a shame that a $264 knife is like this and the problem isn't fixed before leaving the factory!!

UPDATE: Shipped it to Benchmade Warranty on 4/26/2014 (USPS Priority Mail + Insurance) with a note that it's brand new and that the blade needs to be centered, the grind is off, sharpen it and check for centering and blade play afterwards. Last time I sent a knife to Benchmade was a couple of years ago and I got it back in about 10 days all fixed. Hoping for a fast turnaround with all the proper fixes!

So the 940 cost you $300 . That's a shame on Benchmade they should refund you the cost of shipping . Such a sweet knife like this one with premium material and to put it together like it was a Happy Meal Prise is unexseptable . Benchmade QC what QC this knife should be there pride . When Spyderco or ZT come out with a new knife the QC is spot on . I did a lot of reading on the ZT 801 when it came out every review said fit and finish was great . Same for the Spyderco Techno .

I like the looks of this knife and for the price of $260 it's pricy but I can see why . I will likely purchase one once all the first pruduction are gone . If I'm not happy with the QC on mine it will be my last new bechmade I buy . I will stick to the exchange .

I have #201 and, and I guess I'm lucky because the blade is centered.

It is remarkably light, very slim and as a result it carries very well. It's less obtrusive than my Mini Barrage or Mini Grip for that matter.

I don't know how they came up with the 2.9 oz factory weight, but I was curious, so I put mine on our digital kitchen scale.

I came up with 68 grams, or 2 3/8 Ozs.

With the cost of shipping the 940-1 back to Benchmade I'm $275 into it! If it had no issues at all it would still be expensive but worth it to me due to the light weight, great CF and the S90V blade.

I'm done with Benchmade until they fix their QC!

Since my first Benchmade in 2005 I have about 40 Benchmades in my collection and I've given some more as gifts!

These look sweet. Need to get some knife funds together for one. Congrats to those who scooped them.

Add me to the list of disappointed customers. Given the recent issues and now this, I'm definitely staying away from BM for the foreseeable future.

Mine was way off-centered, but I was able to adjust it back to pretty darn close to center. Mine also wasn't the sharpest Benchmade I've ever received, but it wasn't the dullest either. Swapped the clip for a silver deep-carry (a la M390 Contego), and she's good to go.

I'd say this was more than a $200 knife just in materials and design. 3D machined CF scales (which I wish the 0770CF had been), S90V blade, very nice anodized stand-offs and uber-light weight.

I'm not too upset about the blade-centering (especially since I was able to adjust it mostly out), or the "decent" edge.

I splurged on one. It arrived from KSF today. I also have a Limited Edition Carbon Fiber 940 with a D2 blade that has been a safe queen for some years now. I'm going to carry and use this Carbon Fiber 940-1. Pleased with my knife - no discernible flaws.

Same here, mine was perfect. I also agree that given the materials involved, it was worth a premium - though I still have misgivings about the MAP change. And, given all the reports here of off-center blades and other issues, it looks like BM really needs to get some internal focus.

How'd you fix it?

Bought 1 today could not wait for my BHQ pre-order. They had 2 in the semi local store. 1 fit and finish plain sucked. Gouges in the scales, nicked spacers, etc. 1 was nice no visible flaws you can guess which one I bought.

I got mine today from KSF, and am very impressed overall. The blade is centered and the overall fit and finish are very nice. The only issue I had when I first examined it was the burr that was left on about half of the blade. I removed it it about one minute, and now it is good to go!
