940-2 opinions??

Pre-ordered!!! Benchmade, if you are reading this, show the 943 some love! I really need a 943-2 for my collection!

This may likely become my second Benchmade, and join my 484-1. It's got the hotness, that's for damn sure ::whistles::

I'll bet this will be one of Benchmades hottest sellers!

Not a G10 gal honestly, but I do really like the green backspacers. Kinda wish this had some new steel to make it worthwhile for me. S110V maybe?

Let's hope they use screws that don't protrude through the liners like they did on the -1 and -1501. That and the price kept me from both of those models.

Can you elaborate on this? I'm not sure what you mean.

I'm liking this one. I have never understood all the love for the 940. To me it was too slippery and felt a bit too light (I like at least a little bit of heft to my knives, otherwise they just feel a bit cheap). Also never cared for the green and purple combo. I would be much more apt to give this one a try.

Then you may not like this one as it is lighter than the aluminum model. ;)

Nobody has a 940-2 yet?

I'll be getting one next month. Got hit with too many others this month.

I got mine on Monday and it hasn't left my pocket since. Benchmade's execution was flawless on this one. Pictures...I know, I know..I'll try and post some up this evening.

Uh......yeah. :D Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

The scale screws would go slightly past the inside of the scale and could only be seen if peered inside.

Oh. That's no big deal. The aluminum 940's have this as well you just can't see it unless you look through the top since it doesn't have flow through construction. I'd rather have them sticking through a tiny big so I know all of the threads are being used. No need to use a short screw and chance stripping the liner.

Indeed!

Agreed!

So disappointed in the latter 940 designs, as they are all open pillar construction. Benchmade would've had a great version if they'd just used slim g10 with a backspacer & M390 or S110v. It's not worth the price when you have to customize a $250+ knife.

I wonder if they could start a customizing process that let you pick between some custom backspacers? Orange, blue, red, titanium, green, yellow would be nice. Just thinking out loud.

That thinking out loud is a very good thing. That would be really nice if they did that!

The one thing I never cared too much about when it came to the 940 is how thin the blade and handle are from spine to edge. I know, I have tried two contegos and sold them both, I also have a Rift, but I would love to see a knife identical to the 940 just a wider blade and handle.

That being said, I do believe that I will be buying this model. And as soon as I do, they will release a Limited Edition Run I like better. It's OK I have opened up my collection enough for a 6 more Benchmades. And that custom Marifone we won't discuss.;)

I bought one and had it for less than 2 days and sold it. I wanted to like it but the G10 was too smooth. The anodizing on the aluminum handled models give way more traction than the G10. Mine was one of the most perfect examples of any Benchmade I have owned. The pivot was tight and not loose like many I have received. There was no play, and it was centered. Great looking knife but I'd rather have the traction of the aluminum handles.

Exactly how I feel. I love the 940 but I feel that the transition from the edge to the spine is more like a wedge since the blade is so short.

When will second production begin on these? I want one but the "First Production" writing on the blade looks terrible IMO.

Oh yes, I totally agree. I found out BladeHQ is finally starting to get some of their 940-2 order and they are shipping, but they are first production marked. I called them up and asked them if they could specifically send me a later production knife because I don't want a marked one either.

I've always been a fan of the reverse tanto blade, but never pulled the trigger on the aluminum handled version. With the release of the 940-2, I think this may have pushed me over the edge. Looks like the perfect all around blade. Currently carry a griptilian with stock handles, so it's a little bulky in the pocket. The slim design should be a welcome change.
