A 2016 Forum Knife. An apology, and The Crossroads!

A beautiful example of a Lambsfoot knife posted by Robert B in this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=12212203

Thanks for starting this thread charlie, you have my support in this in anyway you need, I'm in for one no matter what. I have some cathin' up to do as I just spotted this thread and it's already 8 pages. My same offer as every year, use me if and as you need me, just let me know how I can help.

Here's an old Robeson to ponder...

^^^This! But maybe with a more interesting main blade (Clip?) and a unique shield. I like the multifunctional secondary a lot. I'd like something in micarta (maroon, white, blue?), but I'm sure whatever is made will be grand. Thank you Charlie!

Yes. But with a punch instead of a caplifter. And a sheep or lamb foot blade. Maybe a pinstripe acrylic.

Or a swayback lambfoot.
Or Ettrick .

Everything is sounding good, I'm in!

The old Robeson just as it is would be my pick. Not everyone has a caplifter. Not a fan of sheepsfoot/lambs foot. I like the knife GEC offered last year as it was. A punch nut sound interesting. How about a waiter's knife with corkscrew caplifter and small but hefty blade.

Not a single spring but if you take the blades from a bjm and make a jack, I know there is a 66 Jack but I want the pen blade replaced with the spear or Spey.

Thanks ahead of time to all that put forth the effort in bring this knife along.
Dave

This is amazing and I'm definitely interested to see where it goes. I joined up late last year (right as Beer Scouts were arriving to people, as I recall) and I was curious if a forum knife would happen again this year. A one day old thread has eight pages of comments. I don't even know what half of these words mean yet - I'm only just becoming aware of the depth of traditional knife patterns - but had to comment to say how awesome this thread is.

Oh, and clearly, I have no qualified opinion on the matter.

That Robeson with a punch and sheep/lambs foot blade would be quite nice indeed.
I'm warming up to the lambs foot single blade idea more and more, but the single spring punch knife would still be my preference.
I just can't seem to jump on board the ettrick train, though. I dont typically like knives with short blade to handle ratios.

Let's not be so quick to forget about a coffin jack, though. ;):D:D

I know it is not a single spring but I really like this old WW2 era Camillus BigBisquit gave me.

I really like the idea of the new pattern - equal end 3 3/4 - all steel - single spring- long pull spear and coping/short sheep foot blade - maybe a bail- and a bar shield - with peach seed bone.

Equal end 3 and 3/4" with a spear and a cap lifter on a single spring is my ideal EDC. Nice size, and slim in the pocket, with tools I use most often. I would take the same with a punch. Both would make great knives. Make similar with a cap lifter and a punch and we are talking grail knife.

Sounds good to me, Charlie. You know I'm up for anything on the forum knife, and even more so if your guidance is any part of it.

If you need labels again, I'm happy to provide.

I know I don't have much of a reputation around here yet, but I am here to help in any way I can. Even if it's something small. I have grown to appreciate the way that yall go out of your way to help another member, often at your own expense. I am very excited about this, because I would cherish a forum knife. I came in too late to get one last year, and if this is the last one for a few years then that's just all the more reason to cherish it. No matter the pattern:thumbup:

I keep seeing a lambsfoot blade in a 55 frame. The wharnies looked awfully good in that frame as well.

Or how about that 3 3/4 equal end with a split spring - long pull spear in one end and cap lifter and punch awl on the other end. Sort of a scout on a whittler frame.

Dangit, I was all excited about a Scout knife as a forum knife.

Ok then:

White Owl frame
Single spring
Stainless steel liners
440C Clip blade with long machstrike pull
Caplifter on the other end
Natural canvas micarta scales
Acorn shield
