A 2016 Forum Knife. An apology, and The Crossroads!

Okay guys I am putting together a good doc and sending the link to Charlie where we can attempt to keep track of this thing. I have every distinct person who has expressed interest, and I also broke down some of the most mentioned general designs so we could get an early idea of interest. I will try and keep this updated every few days. Hopefully its of some use.

Yes, this! Charlie, if there's anything you need to help with the decision-making process, before the drawings and the tools start to come out, I'll offer to do what I can as well. Most of the prevailing ideas in this thread are both awesome and unique and would represent a departure from some of the more popular (and ubiquitous) patterns out there.

Besides, the only things between me and a Charlow at this point are time and opportunity. A '16 forum knife would ideally be more special and community-oriented. With a Charlow "riding watch" and a forum knife in the FP I think I'd be beyond satisfied. :D

I like the Idea of a 47 or 74, appear to be the same frame simply reciprocated, done with a single long pull sheep foot, so it's pinchable. All steel, smooth black bone would give nice solid feeling heft and I haven't seen it before. All black jet black not camel bone. I wonder if the buffing would take out dye too much on colored smooth bone. It would look and feel great. No lanyard.

i like the look of the lambs foot patterns. I agree that the 47 feels best in the hammer grip, it it were a shorter frame I think it would only dig into your palm more.

satin rat tail bolsters.

Thank you Charlie for your time and in put. You make a great leader.

A single-spring half Scout sounds great!

I'm in for whatever it turns out to be.... reclaimed wood would make for great scale material. :)

I'm sure that Charlie will build an official page if he feels it's needed so that votes can be recorded in a poll.

You're a fine and hardy soul, Charlie!

The last 4 forum knives -- all of them that have been available since I started reading here -- have been over 3.5" closed. With 3.5" being the very biggest I like to collect/carry (and preferably a single-spring at that size), they've passed me by.

If things break that way this year again, so be it. But I'm trying to think of a sub-$100 SFO on a (probably) GEC frame that's 3.5" or less, closed, that wouldn't pique my interest, and I'm pulling a blank.

Single spring half scout (caplifter) sounds good. I'm open to just about any blade style for the main.

Look forward to all the developments and final decision whatever that may be. A big thank you to all those who are dedicating their time and effort.

A 57 frame with a single spring half whit with a Wharncliffe main and a coping or lambsfoot secondary, while it would be nice, it might be too close to the halfwhit .

But I do have to say a lambsfoot would offer some comfort over the sharp drop of the coping when using the main.

A 48 frame (or other dogleg) would be nice with a tall clip main and an straight back or trailing point secondary buried deep. Lots of belly, slicing and edc utility while keeping a fine point on the secondary.

A coke bottle might be a nice pattern for a half whit with a Lambsfoot main and a clip (or Wharncliffe) secondary with the swedge meeting the spine near the swell in the handle.
Unique pairing of blade's on a unique frame for a whittler.

An equal end/cigar with a lambsfoot main and a long clip like the two blade 48s would be a standout too.

But, I will reiterate that folks have been asking for a carbon steel version of the Case seahorse with thinner blade stock on the main.

This seems like a Great opportunity for using common parts to cobble together a potentially new combination.
It would be nice to have Bladeforums equated with a new pattern.

It may be premature, but could GEC offer some Worm Groove Bone? Particularly in light bone...

It'd be nice to have the Traditional forum equated with a traditional pattern
While I can understand the sentiment, Even a "traditional" pattern had an introduction and was a "new" model.

Traditionals are in construction and materials, not just blade/handle shapes.

a harness jack , such as R8shll posted, or Suprat's eureka cattleknife would be awesome! please consider a punch or awl. thanks, Neal post script: thank you Mr.Campagna, the difficulties of doing this are , i'm sure, if anything understated here in the forums, so thank you again. plus bails are always nice:)

I'm still for a peanut of some sort, maybe a variation of the GEC #18. They're in production this year and making another 300 or so shouldn't be a big burden for this summer's Forum Knife.

To whom it may concern, I'd be willing to invest in this year's run, if needed.
