My little stable of 74s, with one more coming in tomorrow (USPS willing).

tstaut, such a nice group shot I thought it should grace the top of page 7 :thumbup:. I'll be watching with great expectations for the new comers to your stable.

Thanks, guys, I'm so glad I found one. The covers are simply gorgeous.

And did I say it's slim and light? ;) :D
It is slim. Slim is the word:thumbup:

I can't get mine out of my pocket! Very easy, useful knife. I have a smooth oiled bone on the way, but the Autumn leaf has captured my attention since I got it.

You can say that again again. It certainly is. I guess I was expecting a little more thickness and heft since I've only had 2 blade 74's until now.

Here is a photo I just snapped (poor quality flash photo) but it shows the slimness of the Stallion compared to my burnt stag Saddle Trapper.
The weights of the two are 114g for the two-blade, and only 70g for the new Stallion.

Heartland mail call!! Not the best picture but it sure is nice, some pretty light streaks in the ebony as well. Managed to snap up a jigged bone version today and I can't wait to compare them... not looking forward to the hard choice of which to keep though.

Now that is a classy looking knife Drew !!
Congrats on getting a Heartland my friend .

All of these 74 frame knives look so good! Northfield Cocobolo just in from the mailbox. F&F is outstanding, and mechanically everything seems to be excellent. Really like the cloud shield, too! Lousy-wet day outside, so it's an indoor photo fresh outta the wax paper.

Just a very fine looking knife GE .

Thanks, Harry! I find that I like so much about this pattern - and the apparent quality of this run - that I now have a Spring Green on order. Will that be enough? :D

It may or may not be enough for now only .

[emoji847] great response Harry. Who can have too many of these beauties?

OTOH. I'm saddened to see flippers already trying to sell them on the great Bay. Saw some guy trying to sell one of the DLT orange camels that he doesn't have in hand yet for twice the price.

Nice Eskys JB!! There's something about the Zulu blade that attracts my interest and I think a zulu in giraffe bone is... just right. You're fortunate to have those.

Thank you sir. Wonderful thread! I have enjoyed everyone's comments and pics.

I agree with you about Zulu spear point and giraffe bone - they are terrific in combination. The 74 pattern also fits my hand very well (for example it's better for me than a GEC 15). The camel bone will see some use around the house.

Caved and got the spring green. Delivered yesterday. Awesome color. Matches 77 barlow perfectly. Would rather not have the word on the shield, but I know that's par for the course.

The clip blade is pinchable, y'all! Dude! I like the sleekness of the drop point, but man, not having to use the nail nick is super convenient. Oiled bone is still in my pocket and is still my overall fav, but it's hard to say which blade style I prefer now.

Those two greens sure do look good together AlwaysTomboy!!! The clip point surprised me quite a bit. It's pinch-able, has a very useful tip and lots of belly, I'm liking it far more than I expected. I have a few zulus and drop points and figured the drop point was the one for me, until I got my first clip... now I'm having second thoughts.:) Yeah it's that nice! Thanks for showing those gorgeous greens.:thumbup:

My #74 will be here tomorrow!!! The suspense is killing me with all these awesome photos everyone is taking!!!

I agree that I love the pinchableness (yep, that's a word) :) of the 74 clip. Maybe it's because I'm fairly new to Traditionals and I need to start a fingernail workout regimen, but I can't stand struggling to open a knife. I sold a Northwoods Madison Barlow because of that. I just didn't enjoy the knife.

My ebony Stallion is my new everyday user and I think it will be difficult to replace it with something else! Can't wait to see how the patina turns out after a few hundred more apples. It's on its way!

Thanks for posting those pics AlwaysTomboy! I need to wait a few more days for my Spring Green. Until then, the pics on this thread will just have to do. I do kinda like them Tijit shields though. ;):D

Those two greens together look flippin cool!! Apologies for reverting to my teenage self there :D I obviously was woefully undereducated on how nice of a pattern the 74 is. The Heartland was my first 74 that I have actually held and the size, shape, everything is wonderful.. I think my new favorite pattern.

Redsparrow and Harry thank you for the nice comments on the Heartland, hope to post a picture of the jigged version soon. Amazing knives everyone, I love this thread!

Nice looking ebony. I JUST ordered one myself. It is hard for me to resist ebony. Nice patina you have going there to.

I think a better word for your " undereducated " would be unaware Drew . I think it is a : You just have to feel them in your hand : kind of thing. That is why I like the 72's , 73's , and 74's so much .
