great thread. and i'm really starting to see a pattern among custom and semi-custom folder makers:

no pocket clip
no hole
no stud
no disc
no wave
no nail nick even.

is this the wave of the future? i started seeing it with this guy:

In a lot of places pocket clips and any sort of grip for opening (usually other than a nail nick) are illegal on a knife. Germany was one that recently banned thumb studs, for instance. I'm guessing in a lot of cases, though, it's purely stylistic.

It's more "traditional" looking and less "aggressive" to go with a naked blade like that.

In South Africa a lot of the knives have never had those features and the Lip Opening/Front flipper approach has been used since the 1980's.

I don not think it is a new wave of the future, but rather appeals for people looking for something else.
