A.G. Russell Curved Regular Jack

Roland, this is my first AG Russell knife (although hardly my first knife from AG Russell). If the others are better than this one, they must really be impressive.

Berkley, the Jumbo AGR folders are The Finest production folders i have ever had the good fortune to own. I have one of these Curved Jacks on order and maybe even on it's way right now, and from your pics it could well be of similar unsurpassed quality.
I asked as the manufacturer is not the same.
I'll post my impressions as soon as i can.

Hey everybody,

The mailman knew I was waiting for my new knife and must have come early today. Thanks buddy. First thing, the new curved regular jack is terrific, virtually without flaw. To say that I'm very happy is an understatement. F&F is very good, easily as good as the gunstock to my eye. Pull is moderate, perhaps a five, although I'm not all that experienced with slip joints, and judging their pull. No blade play at all, locks into place rock solid. The blade is dead center between the liners, finish inside is very nice. The fitting of the bone scales is great. If you've been on the fence about these, I say order now!

Thanks AG.

So, here are the pics, sorry to say my old digital camera is getting tired so the pics could be better.

Chris.

Wow! That is very impressive! Looks like the team put quite a bit off effort getting this one out with such great quality!

Hi David,

Never owned a wharnie before, so I don't know yet. The sharpening is just the slightest bit uneven, but really very, very slightly. I'll clean that up tonight or tomorrow. So far, it's riding around in my front pocket very comfortably. Works fine for cleaning out the fingernails!

Nice knife Chris and I think your photos are great.

I don't know if I can hold back on buying one of these. Very tempting.

Any chance to get one of this without the front nail nick, and just the long puller grove ?

That'd be great !

Regards !

I'm with you, Rosh. Looks like a quality made knife and all, but double pulls just don't make any sense to me . . . I can't abide 'em.

I guess it should not be too hard to "skip" the step of making the nail nick, during the manufacturing process, on a few blades... Let's hope so...

And the funny thing is, you don't need either one!

(My webcam software flips the picture, so everything is a mirror image -sorry, but I can't see $40 for a software upgrade that could go toward buying knives).

I've spent a long time looking for this kind of knife (the jigged bone wharncliffe version) - I've even spent a (very) long time drawing it up so I could get a custom maker to make it for me and now I find this one! It's so close to what I've drawn it's scary... even down to the extra thick blade. Can't wait for them to come back into stock. Cwood8656 - Any chance of a few more pictures to tide me over?

Dan,

I like it pretty well so far. The tip of the blade is very thin and pointed, that has taken some getting used to. Seems to take and hold an edge well. I cleaned with soap and water, blew it out and lubed. I'd say the pull remained about the same, although I did get a small amount of crud out of it. I've carried it every day since receiving it.

Here are a couple more pictures.

Chris.

Thanks Chris - that was exactly what I wanted to see. It looks to be the best example of what a Wharnecliffe blade should be that I've ever seen on a folding knife (Lord Wharnecliffe's original specification was for a stout heavy blade with an exceptionally fine point)

I've placed an order so now I just have to wait for them to travel to the US from China and then to the UK from the US! It's going to be a long month...

This knife was too gorgeous, and the feedback (and pics) so positive, I had to order one. Thank you all so much for posting- I hope I can post some nice pics soon.

Adding my two cents: AGR's designs with the closed blade stop pin are a HUGE improvement over knives that you can blunt by depressing the blade while closed. I can't wait for my Curved Jack!

Peace!
