A Month Ago I didn't Own A Kershaw

Nice collection Flatlander. They are addicting, aren't they? Off the top of my head, there's a few more every Kershaw collector/user should have: The Blur (available in 14C28N, 154CM, and a composite blade with a ZDP edge. If you're lucky enough to find one, a beautiful SG2 blade was also put in the Blur). Check with kershawguy as I think he still has some of the 154CM and ZDP blems. Another overlooked Kershaw is the Groove. RJ Martin design, probably the slickest flipper Kershaw has done. Frame lock with G-10 overlays. For the money, its hard to beat a Lahar. A Galyean design, this is a big knife with an incredible VG-1o blade. Excellent flipper.

Two discontinued models that a Kershaw nut should have is the Mini Mojo/Mojito. Difference being 440A vs 13C26. An Onion design, this small knife had a big sweeping recurve and cuts like a knife 3 times its size. Small and classy enough to carry to church on Sundays (smaller than a closed Leek). Its been called the Bump series' little brother. Patented Ken Onion stud lock. The other is the Boa. This is the toughest knife in the Kershaw line. Could easily have been a ZT. Blade steels run from 440V(S60V) to S30V. Ever since I misplaced my MUDD, this has been my work knife. Another beautiful Onion design.

Next up will be Vanax and Elmax steels. I've also heard Kershaw has a fresh supply of S110V. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with this.

A little Kershaw trivia: Hitachi will only allow Kershaw to HT and completely finish their raw ZDP-189 steel. Its all done here in the USA. Other manufacturers do the initial grinding, ship the blades back to Hitachi for the HT, and then they are sent back to the manufacturer for finish. This says a lot about Hitachi's confidence in Kershaw's ability to properly HT a high end steel.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your Kershaw/ZT collection!

i actually joined this forum based on a kershaw review thread that i linked to. i'am a big fan. love me some kershaw!
the hinderer line will be a big hit. anyone know the model # of the orange scaled ZT? it looks to be the most usable.

You might be thinking of the orange handled ZT Phillip Dobson did for a customer. His work is top shelf. Take a look at his gallery. The carbon fiber 0350 he did is beautiful!

I too am a big Kershaw fan. They have something for everyone. Value priced knives with quality exceeding most other companies and high end knives that give the very best production companies and custom makers a run for their money. Theres a few of my favorite Kershaws mixed in with some others here. In my opinion these 3 Kershaws hold their own with knives costing $100-$200 more.

Glad you found that one Flatlander, that orange looks great.
As mentioned above, there are many more out there to enjoy.

kershaw rocks!, great quality, price, service and warranty...what else do you want?

Hey SPXTrader,

Of those you mentioned the Lahar is very appealing to me. What a price for a big slab of VG-10. Very hard to resist. I'm also very interested in Kershaw's willingness to venture into new and different steels. Premium steels for me is a major component in the "WHY" I'm knife obsessed. I think I'd loose interest if knives were mostly mundane entry level steel or repetitive in type. One of the big reasons I had to have the 350 and Tyrade was the composite steel blades. I'm especially torxed over the Tyrade's 154cm/CPM-D2 blade.

Yes 2Brothers I'm quite thrilled with the Tyrade. Even more so that I was able to grease it up and that it's now quite as a church mouse.

35...nice collection of Titanium!!! I keep looking at the blade profile on that J-Dogg and I'm starting to get ideas!!!

Thanks ya I love those knives, they are excellent. I also am undecided on the JYD's blade shape. I keep thinking that I want to cut a finger choil into the flipper. The only thing I don't like about the JYD is how far the blade is from my index finger. I figure with a choil there I could use a forward grip and get more control with the blade. Other than that though its a primo knife for sure!

That particular SG2 JYD II has been customized by Brad Southard to add and IKBS bearing system. It also sports a STR lowrider clip!

How much does Brad charge to add the IKBS bearing system? Could you IM me with details and/or pics and the price? Thanks!

Email sent. His charges are very reasonable for anyone else on the fence. You can check out his website HERE and email him if you wish to consult with him. He does primo work. He also does titanium pocket clips. My clip is an STR lowrider however I talked to another forum member lately who said that he got both IKBS and a custom clip from him.

Terrific, thank you a ton!

Sent you a reply.

To stay on topic... my whole collection of knives is exclusively Kershaw. My favorites are the Ti/SG2 JYD, ZT 0610ST, Blur SG2, Leek, Tanto Groove, Zing, and Shallot. I have a VOLT on the way!

The Lahar is really impressing me. The blade shape is fantastic and with a little oiling it flies out at least as fast as my JYD II CB. The only thing that I was hesitant on before ordering was the liners looked thin. However now that I have it I think they are a great size. There is no lockbar cutout on them so at the thinnest place the lockbar on my JYD II is noticeably thinner than the Lahar. My only complaint is the detent is not very strong on my example and I wouldnt want to carry it tip up (I don't carry tip up anyway so not a big deal for me).

Yup! Cyclones + Blurs are what I have. I recently bought a cheapo, Scamp. For $20 I dont think there is a better blade out there.

:D an too think a month ago your wallet was probably feeling safe.

Oh it's definetly squealing!! And there was the Perrin PPT, Paramilitary 2, and Buck TNT and some custom Buck Vantages.

I do like the ZT0200. I've got to flip the clip to tip up carry and wag this brick around for a while. It's going to be hard to choose between the Tyrade, 200, or 301 for the back pocket heavy weight.
