A new Breeden knife, my new woods wandering partner.

Thanks guys, Bryan should be well pleased with himself, he did a great job of it.

The handle is great I get a good firm grip when I'm cutting with it.

Bryans Knives are always top notch. I have one and soon I hope to add others. That's an awesome design.

Hi all, Thanks for the feed back on this knife and the shape of it. I am so excited about this design that Mistwalker and I were able to work up. Like he said about 3 weeks back I seen a thread that he was writing in and that he would like to see a custom SOG Bowie and with a full tang handle and some other details. Well the light bulb went off in my head so to speak and I e-mailed Brian right then and there. We chatted on the phone e-mailed back and forth and drew up several designs and after each email and design alterations that we made this design came about and when we both saw that is was done and just sat there looking at it, right there just looking at the design on paper made me relize that for me I have found that one great knife that I was searching for from camp to kitchen to even if I had to go back into a combat zone, with the Marines again this was that one perfect knife that I would want to be with me. Like mistwalker has said in his posts that he loves his knife, He may almost love his as much as I do mine LOL. I have been using mine for the past week, for ALL my cutting chores form making dead fall trap, to slicing up fruit and veggies, to cutting bread and spreading butter, shaving up wood and batoning for the family campfires we have on the farm, clearing brush along some of the over grown trails that I had not been hiking a long on lately, cutting open boxes and mail. and if it came down to having to use this knife to defend myself or to take the fight to who ever or what ever this knife it going to perform like it is suppose to IF needed. mistwalkers design thoughts really show with this blade shape. even with it 3/16" thick blade this knife flows in the hand ready to cut what ever needs to be cut.
Yes Kgd I asked him about having one made in a thinner steel too LOL. the smaller knife that mistwalker posted with the tan and the orange handle knife I am going to make some out of 3/32" and then 1/8" and then I am going to make up a 8" and a 10" in the thicker steels to.
There was a thread a couple of weeks back about if you lost one of your knives would you replace it. Well I can tell you I will be making extra's of this knife for me. and in several different blade lenghts. I know for sure several in the 4.5" and the 6" and then if I like the 10" one that I plan to make this week I will be making more of them to.

I did a tiger stripe patina on my orange handled one and the 7". I think it turned out pretty good.

Here is the dead fall trap with 2 rocks. Carving the notchs and the bait stick notch was a breeze. I thought it was much easyer with a thicker spine then a thinner one when doing push cuts.

Slicing up some straw berries was as easy as with a thinner knife.

cutting bread and spreading butter easy enough to LOL

Battoning was a joy.

hiking along this little stream and doing a little brush clearing was a dream

This pic was with the 7" and the two 6" knives just before I packaged up Mistwalkers knife. I will be making myself one with a green handle to. that is a great color
101_1644.jpg

here is pic of some of the gear I have been carring when out in the woods.
I have my 2 knife set up with the same sheath. one large knife and a smaller knife and you have the dream team I think.

Thanks again to mistwalker and his thoughts help on this knife design that we were able to come up with it and the great feed back from all of you to

Bryan

What is your price going to be on these?

Looks very good, extremely useful.....

Cerberus.

Hi Cerberus the RECON like in the pics above cost $180. the thinner steels will be less and then the thicker steel 1/4" and thicker and longer blades like the 10" one I am planning on doing this week. I am thinking will take me a little longer. so they might run about $15 to$25 more roughly. Now that price is with the micarta and G-10 handle matierals if you wanted some desert iron wood or some different handle that cost $50 just for the handles then add onto the final cost. Also if you wanted a combo like I have for my orange handled ( RECON) knife, with a smaller knife and the knife sharpener and matchsafe pouches cost about $340. So like if you had a thought on a 2 knife set up on your sheath depending on the time it takes to make them both will depend on the cost.
This is a pic of the knife before I put the tiger stripe type patina on the RECON. with the smaller knife also seen in this pic.

Thanks for the comments on this design Mistwalker and my self were able to make up. I am so far really lovin this blade shape and the way it does what I am wanting out of a knife.

There is no such thing as too much knife for me ;)
I'm really glad you liked it MC, I really love it.

Tis a beautiful Blade Mist, I will have to think about gettin me one at some point. Always like readin your reviews, you aint afraid to put your blades thru da ringer to see how well they will work. We'll have to try and get together sometime I would love to compare this blade to my Gossman Kephart (or Tusker when I get it)... :)

Cheers!

Glad you like it MC, I really think it is awesome. My knives have to handle the ringer...the ones I keep forever really have to handle it. When I go out looking for items in the woods for my work...the right rock, the right piece of wood...I never know how much weight I am going to end up humping back to the truck. When I actually get a free day to hit the woods from daylight till dark I often decide to go back to places I haven't been to in a long time because the time required to get there. I never want to hump a lot of extra weight...I want a good solid stout knife that I can use to chop, slice, pry, dig, and stab with if needs be. In some areas of the country I'd want a larger one than this but I grew up roaming all of the woods around here so I'm fine with a smaller knife here.

Mr. Coffee after talking with mistwalker over the last few weeks sometimes several times a day. I am convinced that if it was not for mistwalkers experences he has been through this knife would not be here now. This is not a want knife so much as it is a needs knife, because of what he has learned and been through. It really shows in his thoughts and desires for what he needs in a knife to be like and how it will be used.
True to form that is why his reviews are the way they are. Expereince in the urban survival and in the woods also.
I have learned a lot from chatting with mistwalker on some of his learning of what makes a great knife for what he needs. Very interesting, he was not playing the game he was living it.

Bryan

Digging with your knife yikes. that's it I am making you a small hand shovel LOL

Bryan

I said if needs be, I've gooten smarter as I get older and now use a sharpened stick lol. But I do dig for punk in rotten logs....but only in the winter, we have too many Timber Rattlers around here.
