A new Breeden knife, my new woods wandering partner.

To Mistwalker & Brian

It's always pleasing to see someone find the knife that suits them and their needs

Especially when it is the result of a colloboration that has obviously worked well :thumbup:

Kind regards
Mick

WOW mistwalker that looks really cool. That really has a forgeish look to it I thought.

What did you use and well you know the deal.

Details please LOL

Mick thanks alot, yes you are right it really makes person feel great when you find that one great knife shape. I am just so pleased with the way this collaboration came about. I just love this design. I have been using my 6" as my edc and then the 7" in the kitchen the last few day, I did put the 7" knife on my belt for a couple of days of edc. I think I like the 6" better though for EDC.
From what Mistwalker and I have been chatting about, I beleive there will be some more knives coming out with this more of a tactical look to it. I can hardly wait to make up a 4.5" one for my shoulder strap carry with the ver/horizontal carry like I was doing with a couple of my other knives.
I really like that type of carry on my shoulder strap.

Well take care all,

Bryan

Thanks Bryan, I'm glad you like it. It is a mottled mustard patina, but I'm not quite sure I'm done with it...I think I may want it a little bit darker. Here are a few pics of it in natural light.

Happy birthday man...sorry it almost slipped...I can't believe I almost forgot it. My wife's birthday is tomorrow, I would think that should be easy for me to remember. Hope you had a great one and got some great gifts!

Yep. I usually apply my mustard several times before I am satisfied. BTW, I sent Bryan a PM. You know why...hehehehehe

Hehehehehehe, well...even now with the new wearing off of it I still very much love mine

This is my first one that I got in the "raw", so that 's my first one done that way.

Took the Recon out in the woods behind my house for a while today, I like the way it blends in with the environment here…very unobtrusive.

Since it rained cats and dogs here earlier naturally my thoughts turned to firecraft. I wanted to try the edge and the spine both out. The razor sharp edge did a great job of thin shavings…I expected no less…and the squared spine did a wonderful job at scraping off the really fine stuff to catch a spark easy.

Not sure what happened with the lighting here…maybe I was too close but I thought it was a cool picture anyway.

Soon, by burning a little pile of fatwood first, I had the wet wood burning good, and all the black smoke from the fatwood helps get rid of the mosquitoes he he he

That is a really nice finish.

Will you describe in detail how you did it? What mustard, and how did you apply it?

Or maybe do a step by step?

But, if you can only do the first, I have a knife I can do a step by step on, and will take images....

Frenches mustard, applied to the entire surface of the metal with my hand, let dry, repeat if not dark enough.

I love the spine, it works great for firecraft. Though I won't do it unless I don't have a sparker on me...I did check it out and it will through pretty good sparts from the firesteel also. I don't know about orange...lol, I'm just a green sort of person lol.
