Is it against the rules on Blade Forums for sellers to ask a buyer to use the gift option?
As a seller, I never ask for it (seems to lack integrity). What gets me is how many buyers ask to use Gift or send it unannounced. Of course, the gift payment arrives with no shipping address and no way to generate a shipping label. So back to the original question. If it was answered I guess I missed it. To me, I immediately wonder why would someone want you to use a function that has you unprotected in the event of a problem. It just screams red flags to me and I wondered what the policy was on the forum.
No kidding. That is distracting!Vege-Taco it really is hard to pay attention to the threads looking at that knife in your avatar. Could you please change it to a Mtech?![]()

You deserve none, nor will you get any such break until you can prove the claim. I have read PP's acceptable use policy and it does not forbid using the personal option to send people money for products. You only forfeit any moderation from PP if some dispute should arise.
Now get your frigging tail in gear and prove me either right or wrong for yourself.![]()
I'll take it! 3.5% of $9.95 is a lot of money. Can I send you Paypal via the gift option? Also, since I live overseas, can you put "tools" on the customs form and say it's a gift? Thanks!
Geesh!!!! So you're wrong.
Paypal requires accuracy in the information you provide about each payment (sec 3.9 of PP User Agreement).
In definitions (sec 16) it says (bold emphasis mine): Personal Payment means amounts sent between two individuals (not to or from a business) without a purchase. Examples of Personal Payments include sending a gift to a friend or paying a friend back for your share of a lunch bill.
So you basically you have an entire file on your computer with disturbing images right...![]()
I simply refuse to buy from anyone who states that I have to add a certain % if I use Paypal or use the Gift option. I've passed over several knives I wanted, because that was the case.
Dude, whats messed up is the people who insist the buyer pay the fee when it clearly states on the PP site that it is the sellers responsibility. It says you are not allowed to charge more to accept paypal(charge the seller),or charge less to accept cash. By doing any of these things you are violating a term of service contract you voluntarily agreed to when you signed up and accepted paypal payments. By doing any of those things you are being dishonest and possibly even criminal. Is your integrity worth 3%?This makes no sense. So because YOU are choosing to pay via paypal the SELLER should eat the fees? I'd say then the seller should make you get a MO then and you'll wait 3-5 more days for your knife. You'll also pay for the money order, the stamp, envelope and have to make a trip to the post office.
You want the convenience but you want them to pay for your laziness?
