A Question on Gift Option

Not trying to argue with you but.....follow my logic for a bit. Then you can call me wrong, no offense or further posts will be made.

I see your point but what is your alternative as a buyer? Getting a MO, which like I said would cost you like what $2 for the MO, envelope and stamp + the gas it took you to get to the post office and back. You're at probably $5-6 bucks or so AND your time. So, that said why would the buyer complain about paying the fees? Chances are the fees are nearly the same cost as getting a USPS MO. The buyer doesn't charge the seller for his cost of getting a MO so why would the seller be responsible for the PP fees? UNLESS you are talking about a $300+ transaction in which case they could split the fees and I think that would be fair.

That might be the paypal rule, but so is gifting....so people obviously break those rules quite frequently. Right or wrong as it may be.

Again this is just my opinion which I'm sure will be accepted by 50% and hated by the other 50% of users here.

For the record I never use gift and don't approve of it one bit.

I can put a check in the mail for $0.45 and not have to deal with getting a MO.

Paypal is a necessary evil. Sellers should simply wrap the fees up in the price (like every other business does with CCs).

Screwing your best friends wife isn't illegal, but most people refrain from it. It's the moral thing to do.

When someone signs up to use PayPal they agree to their terms. When they don't follow them they are breaking a business contract.

If somebody is willing to disregard their business obligations with PayPal then why should I assume they will uphold them with me? I despise PayPal, but they have as much of a right to set their own rules as anybody. There's no Constitutional right to credit card payments.

A postal MO is just over one dollar and most people do go to, or at least past a post office everyday. So, adding gas, time and whatever else into the cost doesn't apply.
I think sellers that ask to be paid extra if you use paypal, or ask to be paid as a gift are way out of line. I'd never deal with them. I sell on eBay and I have to pay the fees. Trying to get around it just because you sell off eBay, is dishonest. It also can cause you problems, if the deal doesn't go right.
Sometimes I make some money off my dealings, sometimes I lose a little. It's just a pleasant hobby and when the day comes, that I'm worried about milking every cent I can out of every transaction, then I'd have to question what enjoyment I'm getting from my hobby.

Like others have said, just figure the cost of Paypal and shipping into the price. Pretty simple. There's no need to lie or circumvent rules.

Figure out how much you need to get out of the knife, then add shipping cost and the Paypal fee to the that amount. Even a caveman could do it.

It is simple; on a $100 knife the seller can list it as $100 shipped or $103.50 shipped. Those that use Paypal should be able to figure it out. (insert  here).

When you sell a knife it's a sale. When you give someone a knife it's a gift.

Happy New Year!!!
