A Sad day at Buck Knives

Well, Outcast......you got some wise words from DarrylS on the subject.

I can see how the loss of contact could happen in that situation. Hope you do connect with some old friends here.

And DAVE.....Rocinante is either a horse or a pickup with a camper......either way it doesn't make much sense.

:D
Every time i see "Rocinante" i think of an old Rush Song- Cygnus-X-1.
Dude you are named after a spaceship!
:D
Prog rock/Metal rules!
lol!

I guess you could say that I'm named after Steinbeck's pickup.....which was named after Donnie's horse.......which was named after Zeus's horse........which Rush put in a song as a spaceship?

Like I said.....doesn't make a lot of sense.

(First I heard of the song, though......thanks.)

I do feel for those that lost their jobs. It is always sad when Americans lose work. But it is even sader when an American company goes out of business. I think od Schrade and Camillus recently. But them on the other hand I believe in the early 90s Case ran into some really hard times and they came back. Maybe we have all just gotten to use to Buck knives being inexpensive. Heck I know that the 110 is cheaper now than I was a teenager. I know the handle is not as nice asthe old ones but for $35 who can complain. Maybe the prices just need to go up . (everyone can shoot me later). How many employees did/ does Buck have?

Hey guys, I was hoping to post some pictures of my collection here but it looks like I have to pay a fee to upgrade my membership? Is this true?

outcast.

...I most always use Photobucket. I used it before I upgraded my membership and I still use it...There's a neat tutorial somewhere around here...

Dah! Now I feel stupid.

Thanks guys, you made my night. Now I need to go take some pictures.

Outcast.

Kyhunt,

Just out of curiosity, how is the handle of the current 110 handle not as nice as the older ones? Does it have to do with materials or workmanship or cosmetics?

I will say I saw an older one a few months ago and the wood was definitely more attractive. It had less of a manufactured feel and a nicer, richer more even color and texture. But I will say that the blade itself was a lot nicer on the modern version.

...to meeting me and that Mr C. Trax and Mr. Roc N. Ante...whom he quoted with out reembursement would also be there...

I didn't notice any of my quotes in that article...but I'll be happy to help with any tar & feathering... :)

Doesn't matter who...I'm not picky... :D

Aza, Go up top to the pic thread. Lot of older 110's there. You should be able to see the differences

The older ones pre 93 had macassar ebony handles the newer ones are laminated. I do have to say though that going with the laminated saved money due to the fact the macassar ebony was getting scarce it doesn't effect the funcionality of the knife. I think they did a good job of maintaining the appearance of the ebony and it is probably more durable to boot. I think they look great.
