Got one of these Maxpedition EDC organizers and a Streamlight Microstream for Christmas. Had been wanting to use these items as part of a basic kit. I've been wanting to make a kit that regardless of what bag I'm taking, I can throw it in the pack and have the basic items I never like to be without.

Contents at this point are:

Maxpedition EDC Organizer
Heavy black trash bag
25 feet of paracord
Streamlight Microstream
3 spare AAA batteries
Mini Bic lighter
SAK
Gerber Multiplier
RAT Fire Kit w/ PJ cotton balls
Whistle
Basic FAK with tylenol, immodium, bangages, alcohol pads, etc.
5 feet of duct tape
Silva compass

Items I plan to add are water purification and a small fishing kit

Welcome any comments and recommended changes or additions. :D

Looks good Adam. like the idea of having a PSK that u can move to whatever bag without replicating its contents for each bag. I would add a small signaling mirror to aid in treating injuries on ur face or other hard to see areas. or for signaling. maybe snare wire.. I like that bag and may get one for myself.

I like your use of the Maxpedition EDC. Mine is more of an urban EDC format, though I have a lot more in it now than is pictured.

Ahh, mirror. We were just having this discussion over Christmas. Thanks TDC!

Nice kit noodle. Yeah, I'm really liking the EDC pack so far. My only preference would be if they made it a little thicker. Very well made though.

Adaman04 Love that Maxpedition stuff,I 've got the Same Pouch Love it! Thanks for the pics!

Damnit. Now I have to spend more money.

Nice kit. That EDC looks about the size of the M2?

Thanks milani. Not familiar with the M2, but it is 5x7x3/4". I have mine stuffed to about 2 1/2" thick.

Nifty little kit. I also like having a kit that I can grab that has what I need if I want to go out from main camp.

Hey Adam and powernoodle, nice kits, thanks for sharing!

Those are top of the line, professional looking :)

Thanks game. One thing I like about this is that I can loop a length of paracord through it and throw it over my shoulder if I'm not going to far. Simple, but fairly comprehensive was my goal.

Thanks Marko - I've been waiting on the real kit expert to chime in. Paging texastonydobbs!

Pretty awesome Kit there Adam... I like it a lot. Which SAK did you put in it? For my EDC kits, especially pocket size kits, I swap out the Paracord and use 330lb climbing rope. Same basic idea as Paracord, but much thinner. Very strong stuff, but I can fit 100ft easily in the same space as the 20ft of 550. So you can either add more cordage, or have more room in your kit. I have made cordage out in the bush, and it sucks to make and it is never as strong as you need it to be. So I tend to carry more whenever I can. I would also consider adding a bandana to the kit.

adam & powernoodle: +1 on the awesome, I'm really impressed with that setup. It's efficient without going overkill on the gadgets. I've been carrying a Streamlight Micro for quite some time now. They are really great little lights, probably the best value out there. I run mine with a Sanyo Eneloop AAA battery, as this offers longer runtime and the ability to hold a charge for a long time (a full charged Eneloop will retain 80% of its charge after 1 year of storage)

adam, with regards to a mirror: consider replacing your existing compass with a Silva Ranger. My wife gave me one for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. It has a split-mirror (with a sighting slot) that can be used for signalling as well as for self-treating facial injuries, in addition to viewing your bearing. Sorry for the blurry cellphone pic.

Great looking kit Adam I am actually working on the same type of set up right now. Well It is still in the planning stages. I agree completly with subneural about the Ranger, It is my favorite compass great for all backcountry adventures. Also it has a mirror that you can use as a rescue mirror, a compass and it has rulers and a magnifying glass on it. It is a good multipurpose item.
