A small kit I'm working on w/ pics

I really like the look of those Max EDC organizers. I need to get one of those.

Powernoodle, I like your kit too. The $20 bill is a good idea for emergencies. It can also be used as tinder if you are really desparate, although I hear that $100 bills burn nicer.

Your probably right... MrsCoffee sure burned thru enough of them for Xmas! :)

The $$$ in an EDC kit is a critcal part, IMHO. I usually keep at least a $20 stashed in my wallet and a couple $1's, $5's, $10's, and $20's in my EDC kit. As well as 4 quarters.

Coffee, the SAK is a Tourist. Corkescrew with the mini-screwdriver screwed in to it.

Good idea on the compass/mirror combo. I've got a Silva Guide I will swap out for the mirror. A bandana will fit in with the trash bag on the right pocket.

Emergency cash is never a bad idea.

It won't be as organized I don't think but I have a spare Maxped M-1 that I may try to do something like this with.

Thank you, guys, for posting the pics of your kits. I bought a similar pouch from CountyComm to setup a firekit but I think this is a much better use for it.

Try to incorporate a spool of GI tripwire, small, comes in 160 foot spools and makes for awesome snare and trap material.

Great looking kit Adam. Just got a pygmy falcon for Christmas & a M-5 WAISTPACK. This is all well & good except now I have reconfigure my gear. I was going to use the waistpack for a FAK but I might consider make a small kit like this & move the first kit to the pack. What do you guys think.

Nice bag adam dont forget the matching accesories...

when im in the woods and working in the dark, nothing helps keep frustration at bay like a high quality head lamp. wherever you look, there is light. fumbling with hand held light can really slow progress and a headlamp is smaller than a surefire or other compact handheld. just an idea.

Awesome looking kit that streamlight microstream is such a great little light.

Redundancy sure is nice, but a good kit that can easily be used in whatever pack you want is a good option. Especially since there is well over $100 worth of stuff in this little kit that I've acquired over time. I just can't afford to have 10 identical kits. This kit adds some confidence that I KNOW I have the top items on my list.

I got a new headlamp for Christmas. While they are very nice for handsfree work, they aren't a necessity in my opinion. I'm not taking this in place of a pack of gear, more as an addition.

Loving the Microstream so far. I found where I can buy a 6 pack of them and save a little. I'm definitely considering it!

Great idea. That would be a good place to store items which I am always having to move back and forth between my work pack and my weekender.

I have a couple small Maxpedition pouches, but for my EDC stuff I now use a small clear Otter box #2000 size. I switch it from vest, to jacket pocket, to fanny pack. I like the hard case style, in case I lean on it I'm not bending/breaking something in my EDC. Plus it's totally water-proof and floats too.

This is actually a pretty cool idea I had never thought of....

You can buy that wire pretty cheap. I used to carry snare wire, but this kit is only so big. Snare wire is something I would be wanting after being out for over a week or so, this kit isn't really designed for that purpose IMO.

Adam, thanks for this thread. The idea of a mini bail-out-bag that goes with you wherever (even into your bail-out-bag) is top notch. It would also cut down on some of the redundant gear buying that BOB, FAK, PSK and other prep kit prep can entail.
