A small kit I'm working on w/ pics

adam & powernoodle: +1 on the awesome, I'm really impressed with that setup. It's efficient without going overkill on the gadgets. I've been carrying a Streamlight Micro for quite some time now. They are really great little lights, probably the best value out there. I run mine with a Sanyo Eneloop AAA battery, as this offers longer runtime and the ability to hold a charge for a long time (a full charged Eneloop will retain 80% of its charge after 1 year of storage)

adam, with regards to a mirror: consider replacing your existing compass with a Silva Ranger. My wife gave me one for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. It has a split-mirror (with a sighting slot) that can be used for signalling as well as for self-treating facial injuries, in addition to viewing your bearing. Sorry for the blurry cellphone pic.

Actually when I was a young soldier a few "cough" short "cough" years ago, the wise old Warrant Officer (probably about 30 or so but to us he was ancient) told us that the mirror was so that we could get a good look at the dumb bastard who was lost...:D
