A Spyderco is like a Glock!

Oh no, 2 or so knives out of the whole catalogue.
Where has all the quality gone?

When Glock is made in China, then you can compare Spyderco to Glock

Don't get me wrong, I own many spydies, and yes they are all high quality, but I am just bitter because lately I have had to pass on some of their newer models because I will not support the meltdown of our economy.

That plunge-lock Ruger must be long discontinued I just saw a couple on the bay for buy it now of 250-275! I don't know much about them, used to see them for sale pretty cheap. Doubt, Ruger had anything at all to do with making them.

I can appreciate wanting to support one's own economy, but did you pass on the Japanese Spyderco's?
I like my Golden knives(P'kal, Military, Mini-Manix, Chinook), but I'd be a far less satisfied knife knut if I passed on buying Japanese knives.:)

Sorry to go off-topic

I am just bitter with the direction the company is taking, I have no problem with Spyderco's quality

Don't buy the couple of branded Spyderco's made in China. I have no desire to buy one and I haven't.
Like Sal said they made those there because so many users can't afford to buy a knife made in the USA or Japan or even Taiwan.
I have no interest in any knife made in China, mainly because I collect and figure they are never going to go up in value. I also prefer to buy anything when possible made in some country that pays their workers a fair wage and treats them decently. But, that is not something to discuss on this forum.

how about more comparisons
AKs (super reliable, not the most precise) = ?
ARs (light and deadly) = ?
FALs (heavy and powerful) = ?
i actually own more different brands and types of guns then knives so help me out with comparisons
as for my pistols
i shoot best with my Sig, just fits my hand well and points well and i keep a benchmade 707 in my pocket every day

Benchmade like a Sig?
Kershaw like an HK?

These are probably backwards. If we're talking about guns here HK was the first company to introduce a polymer framed gun along with many other inovations and they tend to be built a little better than a Glock. Nothing wrong with a GLock... I own several. But HK is more substantial weapon. And I don't think Kershaw is a more substantial product than Spyderco. Actually I wouldn't even equate a fine company like Sig to Kershaw either. Kershaw is more like the Bersa of the knife world.

H&K is certainly the "premier" maker of the three mentioned, although SIG is right on their heels. Glock isn;t lagging either, but I think someone has already placed them in their proper sequential order....IF one could differentiate enough between the three without being a competitor, collector, and gunsmith.

I think the same goes for knives. In my oh-so-humble opinion, Benchmade, then Spyderco, then Kershaw..... IF we could articulate the unique and subtle differences betwixt the three.

(This is, of course, leaving out many fine guns and knives of perhaps greater quality: Springfield Armory comp. weapons, KAHR, Kimber, Colt, Chris Reeve, Emerson, etc.

I would disagree with the comparison. Spydercos are ergonomic and I actually like them.

Glocks are the opposite.

BOOM! +1

I would put Spydercos with HKs, BMs with Sig, and Kershaws to glock. The reson being, I know my Spydies and BMs are 100% reliable. I have had more things on my kershaws screw up (torsion bar breakage) than on my other knives. Maybe I should compare kershaws to most 1911s. For the most part they are reliable, but due to design, you know every once in a while, you know they're going to have some hic-ups.

Contrary to popular belief HKs were the first to introduce polymer frames. I think Block.. I mean Glock, makes good guns but they don't look very attractive, and dont feel good in my hands. I have a Sig and an HK, and for now.. I Like Sigs first, then HKs, but they are both extremely close in reliability, and workmanship. I'm more accurate with my Sig in .45 than I am with my HK in 9mm, but I have had more practice with the Sig.

I was afraid of this happening. Glocks are an outstanding pistol. Just as your favorite pistol, rifle, knife, etc., is to you. Get what you like.

I wouldn't compare the CRK designs to a Walther at all; while the P99S is an innovative little pistol, they don't put out a solid line as a company like Kimber does. The P22 is horrribly unreliable unless used with expensive target ammunition that has a round-nosed bullet, the PPK is a classic but is rapidly becoming aged, etc. Kimber makes a whole range of awesome firearms that make me drool every time I look at one, and usually end up coming home with me. :D

To another effect, I would compare Buck to Smith & Wesson. Classic American style, robust in nature, and they get the job done with some amount of style.

i actually was not just comparing quality level, but more in the way of design philosophy. The reason i compared kershaw to HK is more about the differnet curious design approaches, rolling block action of 91s and squeeze cocking p7s with kershaw's assisted opening and visual designs
