Thanks again everyone for the kind words and comments ! Ray and I read them all a little while ago.

Allow me to indulge in one last little update to say that if it was not for "The Porch" this wonderful trip and friendship with Ray would not have occurred.
We had a great time and made a lot of great memories enjoying the outdoors.

We forgot to take a picture together earlier today as we crossed the finish line where Diana picked us up.
I only have this one taken a few seconds before arriving at our final destination

And this one, a little blurry of Esperanza coming out of the water after 220 km ( 137 miles ) journey.

Great looking puuko and sheath, one to be proud of. Looks like the birds were glad to see you.
My beach walk yesterday, no knife sadly.

Hi Folks ~

As you now know, due to CelloDan CelloDan 's excellent chronicling we have boated the Rideau and we are now home - safe and warm. Dan was the scribe of this adventure. I don't do more with my phone than talk, text and photograph so without him our story would be just a post or two. I'm glad for the photos and posts and that you all could join us as we travelled. I encourage anyone to take on this lovely journey.

As you must have all concluded by now Dan is a wonderful and considerate host and guide. Diana too was easy and generous with her welcome. A lovely family, you would all do well to meet. Dan and I are now solid friends. Our leap of faith to commit to this trip together was well rewarded. Upon reflection ( I had a 9 hour drive home yesterday ) I realized that every decision/choice we made along the way - whether considered or imposed by the conditions - proved to be the PERFECT choice. Everything fell into place beautifully and often, to our delight, better than the alternatives that occurred to us. Amazing, really.

Thank you so very much Dan ๐Ÿฅฐ and thank you all for your enthusiastic response and encouragement.

You can see here that our trip wore CelloDan CelloDan right out. This was our last morning. Good thing eh?

Knife content ~ this too was a photo from our last stop. The Boreal Forest model made by Bushcraft USA maker, GIZAMO from Maine. This knife is "Run Around Sue". She has been running around with quite a number of Maine users and now has gone international. ๐Ÿ‘ Turns out that the Rideau Canal trip is not a conventional "camping trip". Other than the tents and gear, our "camp sites" were patches of grass and except for one spot, no chance of a camp fire or woods exploring. Our focus was on the water. Dan got his new puukko well involved but I was not inclined to spread peanut butter with Sue. I didn't want to pamper her or spoil her. :) Rugged knife capable of so much more. She did make it into a few photos though.

Cheers, my Brothers.

Very beautifully put, Ray

A walk and ride in nature today.

Brilliant day, first I went to see the Rio Mundo waterfall.
The surrounding scenery is breathtaking,my legs couldnโ€™t get me around the whole trail.
But there is a good track mostly on the level I followed.
Then I went down the logging track I found some years ago.
Itโ€™s slow,bumpy and wonderful.
Iโ€™ve also discovered Radler as a refreshing pit stop drink.
I am the only non Spanish visitor in the area.

A perfect adventure :)

CelloDan CelloDan its getting chilly already! No "white stuff" yet, but frosty in the mornings.

Guess we can see a little "white stuff" way out there, but we werenโ€™t that ambitious last weekend ;)
^๐Ÿ˜ƒ^

Noooo , the "s" word :eek:๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜.
Beautiful pics my friend :thumbsup::cool:

At least this year your white stuff intro was not as graphic and shocking as last year :cool:๐Ÿ˜ƒ
