Photos A Walk in Nature

Departure day: A bit behind schedule due to some unforeseen circumstances
ex: long am breakfast talking about knives, stops along the way for coffee and perhaps most importantly because CelloDan picked up the wrong boat ramp on google maps to launch which was 16 km away from the entrance to the canal on 😝 ( instead of the ramp right beside the entrance)
Again, talking about knives can be distracting at times 😀

However we got the opportunity to navigate in Lake Ontario under some stiff breeze and chop.
Esperanza did not disappoint and performed admirably
Camping for the night at Kingston Mills Lock.

Distance covered today: 23 km

A puukko knife that he made with material gathered around his surroundings close to his house ... birch bark, antlers, bronze. He made a very nice leather sheath for it with very cool touches such as the bronze shackle to evoke boating adventures and engravings both on the knife and the sheath to personalized them

Ray that puukko is just spectacular. I didn't realize your skills were so advanced! It's as beautiful as any I've seen. Kudos! and what a amazing gift for Dan. Looks like y'all are off to a great start. Stay safe.

Cherri and I walked a trail this morning above Cove creek which empties into North Cadron creek. 87E73D37-2A78-4761-A168-8655BCFEB188_1_201_a.jpeg3559CE7F-222C-4DE8-BFF8-DDDDE8AF9B24_1_201_a.jpeg379E184A-AC29-407B-A1D8-583F23E0AE88_1_201_a.jpegE339E686-2211-4A51-AA40-F3D974659D5B_1_201_a.jpeg
Willow has come full circle in her 11 yrs with us. She could walk miles at 8 weeks old but had to ride when cycling and now she's developed heart problems and has to be carried on any hikes. She always wants to go nonetheless. 8C7B7DCF-0FBE-4E65-98EE-78C9B7EB6DD2_1_105_c.jpeg

Looked like the smoke was going to be manageable today, so out we went to hike to Bow Glacier Falls.

No knife photos on the trail today (a friend came with us and I didn't feel like explaining ;)), but my usual Cowbell and Lambsfoot were in attendance.

When we arrived in the parking area, Christina made friends with a local.

On the way back I attempted channeling my inner CelloDan CelloDan but couldn't quite capture the magic. He came pretty close to us, but kept about a 5' distance. ;)

Had the timing right today, because as we were headed home the smoke rolled in pretty thick.

Lol 😄👍

Today we covered 40 km navigating through several lakes in one of the most beautiful sections of the system

Early this morning a lot of folks on canoes passed by our camp as we were getting ready to pack up

We caught up to them later in the day

And we all met inside a lock
We learned they were a group of wounded veterans of the Canadian forces.

We got a late start this am and departed from Colonel By Island around 10:20 am.

Navigated 26 km in big open lakes arriving at Poonamalie around 1:30 pm.

We debated to keep going however decided to stay as the camping area was really nice and if we kept going run the risk of not making it to our next camping destination before the locks closing time.

After setting up camp we navigated to the nearby town of Smith Falls to resupply and walk around before returning to camp.

From now on no more big open lakes but rather river/canal type cruising all the way to Ottawa.

I am not exactly sure what Ray was up to at that moment but when he finds out I took a pic and posted it here perhaps he can explain it to us 😂😎

Seeing it there leaning so close to the water is making me uncomfortable 😬.

Looking at your pictures from this trip, I am seeing a definite theme, and I feel like if for some reason I found myself standing in line somewhere behind Ray, and he was wearing a hat, I would DEFINITELY recognize him 🤣🤣.

😄 Ray asked me a couple of times what I had posted on BF so I finally relented lol 😆 and showed him with my phone

He had a good chuckle this morning 😊😎

Obviously he was preparing to "part the waters". 🧔‍♀️
👍😎
Ray says that it would be better to part them behind us so we would not run aground 😄
With all the rain forecasted for today I hope he can do something about it 😎
