Nice bass, and on fiberglass! 👍

Pretty spectacular stuff Dan! You live in a beautiful place, and you have great knives too!😎👍

Thanks Tod, I've been meaning to paddle to that island for a while.
I imagine than in a couple weeks there will be hundreds of cormorant and seagulls chicks all over the place.

The noise was just deafening, and a bit stinky too lol

I thought it would be the perfect place to maroon GEC flippers 😁

Yep, me too. I had a Blue Halo 3wt. loved it but moved it along. I use this 7’6” Cortland Pro Crest a lot for bass and bluegill. And of course, I always have a knife handy! 😉👍View attachment 1574524
Bet that was a fun fight.

I hope to make it out to the Texas Glassic this year and try a few others. My first reel was a Cortland Crown II. Nothing beets the sound of a click pawl. The Loop is just a better balance for the BH.

Perfect!😂😂😂

Saw this ground hog on the golf course yesterday. She was carrying a baby in her mouth and running right at us. This is a snap from video. I couldn’t get the video to up load. She wasn’t too concerned about us or our game!😄View attachment 1575350
I've seen one with a small one in my backyard. Its way more skittish than that one. I've only managed to get one pic and it was too far away to tell what it is. My "phone" needs a larger telephoto :)

This one passed right by the cart, just feet from us, guess she hasn’t seen the movie Caddy Shack! 😉

I built "Esperanza" in 2008 for my Dad.
It went on many adventures navigating on the Rideau Canal with my parents.

Initially it was varnished inside.
Here she is in 2008

My Dad, my nephew and I in 2008

After a few years my parents moved away from our area and the boat sat in my backyard falling into disrepair ( Canadian winters are not kind on wooden boats )
4 years ago I repaired and painted her all over ( forget the varnish )and she resumed her adventures.

Here she is a couple years ago

If you want to spice up your marriage life put a small 2 hp outboard and take your sweetheart on a windy day ... it really works ! 😁

Last year during covid she took a beating as we were boating and navigating the Rideau almost every weekend.

So she was looking rather sad again.
I just finished repairing and painting her again.
I am not sure about the color, I miss her old looks. It's supposed to be "red wine", perhaps it will grow on me.

Here she is posing with the two knives that will accompany her and me this season.

My new Grohmann Bird and Trout and my Maserin Plow

I have to admit I like the first iteration best Dan but - no buts - that is an excellent little craft and a great way to get out and about on the water. Very nicely done! Wonderful that it is having so many lives and adventures  😎

What a great story Dan. That boat is truly a wonderful part of your family’s history. Thanks for sharing it. 😊👍

Thank you guys :)

"Esperanza" is certainly part of the family.
I called it "Esperanza" which is is "Hope" in English.
My Dad had just retired back then and had always dreamed of rowing.

Here we are at the end of their first adventure with my Mom.

They certainly did not pack light :)

These days my Dad can no longer go on his own due to health issues so when they come visit we make point of going rowing together.

More from last year ... with my trusty Ebony Lambsfoot

Sunsets at the Rideau

The Rideau Canal goes from Kingston Ontario all the way to Ottawa ( about 200 km ) it connects several lakes together, the Rideau River etc. It was built after the war of 1812.

Here is a video of our family navigating pretty much the whole city of Ottawa, from the countryside in the outskirts all the way to downtown where the canal flows into the Ottawa River.

There is very impressive set of about 8 locks there
