Photos A Walk in Nature

Thank you guys :)

"Esperanza" is certainly part of the family.
I called it "Esperanza" which is is "Hope" in English.
My Dad had just retired back then and had always dreamed of rowing.

Here we are at the end of their first adventure with my Mom.

They certainly did not pack light :)

These days my Dad can no longer go on his own due to health issues so when they come visit we make point of going rowing together.

More from last year ... with my trusty Ebony Lambsfoot

Sunsets at the Rideau

The Rideau Canal goes from Kingston Ontario all the way to Ottawa ( about 200 km ) it connects several lakes together, the Rideau River etc. It was built after the war of 1812.

Here is a video of our family navigating pretty much the whole city of Ottawa, from the countryside in the outskirts all the way to downtown where the canal flows into the Ottawa River.

There is very impressive set of about 8 locks there

Very impressive! 👍 Taking your family on an adventure like that in a boat you built yourself, has to be enormously gratifying. Well done Mi amigo! 👏👏👏

Thanks Dan. That was a fun coffee break, riding along with you and family. I caught myself smiling the whole time. Those oar locks won't allow for any slip ups will they? ;)

Thank you Ray for the kind words 😊, happy you enjoyed our little adventure.

About the oar locks ... I am not that good at “ freehand rowing”, can’t keep my angles consistent so I use a guided system :D:cool:

Oh man, I hope you are OK and it was nothing too serious Mike !
Best of wishes your way my friend !
Thanks for the kind thoughts. I wasn't moving. Didn't mean to give that impression. I'm fine. Except my pride. Short version is I lost my footing and down we went.

Oh I see, good to know you were not moving and everything is ok  ( except for a little pride 😉 )

No more napping from now on my friend , at least for another 16 years :)

Wow - I thought you were on the move too. Sounded like you BOTH went over. Glad that wasn't the case.
Just stay positive and upright and you'll be thundering around when your 76 easy

Me and the bike did both end up on the ground. Very gentle reminder to pay attention. Stuff can happen quick - even at a standstill :D
Took these earlier today. Not as scenic as the river. First time I've ever took a pic of an odometer

Now that we know you’re okay, the question becomes...did she take any damage?
Much to my surprise it did. The seat has a plastic seat pan that latches in the back, but has a protruding "tongue" in the front that slides into the frame. Don't know how it happened but the plastic tongue broke off. Weird thing to get damaged. I'm half way thinking it was already cracked. The bike is 33 years old after all. Right now I'm in full blown engineering mode trying to figure out how to fix it without taking the seat cover off. If I do that, I'll probably have to take it to an upholstery shop to get it put back on so it looks right. "A man's got to know his limitations" :D

That is an odd thing to damage, but relatively minor considering all the other things that can be damaged when something like that happens. Good luck with the repair Mike. 👍

If 50’ counts as a walk and our tortoise enclosure counts as nature, then this photo works here! 😊 Actually, I was feeding them this morning and saw this photo op, didn’t want to loose the light or startle the little one so there is no knife, sorry. This is the first time I’ve see her this season so it was a relief to know she made it through the winter. The little ones, and especially this one are very elusive. The big one in the photo is VERY dominant, and is always out.3CBF8475-8413-4AEB-8CA6-78EC224A5731.jpeg
