Photos A Walk in Nature

Nice pictures Jack, when I see streams like that my mind immediately goes to casting a fly rod for trout. Thanks for the pleasant thoughts. 👍

Mine too. :D

Thanks guys, there's some good fishing there, though that section is 'private', like many rivers here :(

Great pics Jacks ! Nice waterfall shot and river vistas.
I think we should make that lamb the official mascot of the Guardians

Thanks Dan :D

My walk along the beach and pier this morning in Santa Barbara...

Fantastic photos John, it looks like you're having a great time :)

I took a walk along the canal this morning with a few detours along paths more or less following the river - a little over 8 miles in all, in pleasant fall weather.

Wonderful pics Tom, and very interesting

Thanks, Dan!
The canal ceased commercial operations in 1924, when a flood caused major damage. It already faced strong competition from railroads, and the flood finished it off. It has been a national park since 1938. Only very short sections now have water in them, and I believe there are only a few remaining operable locks.

Edit:
It’s funny - I just noticed the Wikipedia article mentions 2 supposedly haunted places along the canal. Both are right near where I have recently camped, and I have posted pictures of them here. If there were any ghosts there last time, the noise of the coyotes would have surely driven them away anyway…

Fascinating stuff  I've stayed in a few supposedly haunted British pubs, but the only spirits I saw were behind the bar :D ;)

After cleaning my Frontier knife and finishing of my spoons (drying in the sun) with food grade mineral oil this morning, time for tea.

But no,lets make some Porridge instead while sitting outside surrounded on 3 sides by trees and watching the wildlife.

I love watching the squirrels scurrying around and my Robin often stops by on the fence having a nose around (by the time I go get my camera he is gone).

At night if you are lucky you can see the urban fox that patrols this area on the outskirts of town.

The porridge was delicious,I wasn't very cold when I started but when I finished I was glowing like a radiator and a bit to hot (coldest day after Autumn this year).

If anyone would like one of the wooden spoons let me know and I will post it off to you.
Unlike plastic it wont melt and it wont scratch non stick linings.
Its not particularly valuable but its always nice to get something in the post.

Another of my "mottos when the suns out go out"

Briefly

I was going to an art gallery today but as its forecast rain tomorrow that's better a better day to go.

Smallest SAK with a saw the walker,I did a test against leatherman saws Vic wins, you also get a spare blade, tweezers and combi too to compliment your main knife.

Ran out of gas my hot meal was warm,my hi tech wind shield is better than the metal one I bought.

Lovely colours everywhere.

A new way to carry my Bullet in the pocket, loop around the belt holds it upright less likely to lose it.

I took my camera with a new leather strap and a fixed lens,I can take pictures without removing gloves then.

I love seats this retreat has lots near the house.

The bed of leaves gave me an idea,I scooped a load up and will put them on my back garden lawn to bring some colour in,mine are all mouldy and dull.

What I thought was a tree stump I realised was some kind of man made decoration, can you see it and why put it in a woods?

Pretty amazing photos, you live in a spectacular place.
Thanks Ed. :)
We love small town living in Eastern Ontario.

Cracking photos,
Gracias Johnny :)

Awesome Dan, looks like he took a quick look at the F&F and then went for the food. Did he approve or was he more interested in the food?😄👍

Such cute little rascals :)
I don't think he really even realized what a special knife he was perching on this time 😎. They definitely have some ADHD LOL
In summertime, when food is super abundant, they just mock me from the top of the trees, chirping away, while I stand there with an outstretched hand 😅

First ❄️ of the year.

I got thinking about my first sentence in the post afterwards.
We got plenty of ❄️ in January, February and March ... so it can not be the first ❄️ of the year LOL

Awesome GIF

Than you :)
First snow here as well - a light dusting.

Pics not showing on this side.

Great day here in Eastern Ontario,
It is -10 C right now at 8 am, warming up to -2C in the afternoon.
We'll be going for another walk to get some fresh air and ward off the dreaded cabin fever lol :)

I just noticed the pics show just fine on my phone but not on PC.

Cool pics , our weather systems seem to be in sync :)
Thanks Dan. Pics showing fine on my PC and phone.
They seem to be although you'll have some 'proper' winter weather over your way. ❄️🥶
