Nice pictures Jack, when I see streams like that my mind immediately goes to casting a fly rod for trout. Thanks for the pleasant thoughts.![]()
Mine too.![]()
Thanks guys, there's some good fishing there, though that section is 'private', like many rivers here

Great pics Jacks ! Nice waterfall shot and river vistas.
I think we should make that lamb the official mascot of the Guardians![]()
Thanks Dan

Fantastic photos John, it looks like you're having a great time

Wonderful pics Tom, and very interesting

Thanks, Dan!
The canal ceased commercial operations in 1924, when a flood caused major damage. It already faced strong competition from railroads, and the flood finished it off. It has been a national park since 1938. Only very short sections now have water in them, and I believe there are only a few remaining operable locks.

Edit:
It’s funny - I just noticed the Wikipedia article mentions 2 supposedly haunted places along the canal. Both are right near where I have recently camped, and I have posted pictures of them here. If there were any ghosts there last time, the noise of the coyotes would have surely driven them away anyway…
Fascinating stuff
