Photos A Walk in Nature

Well Done, Dan. 🤣

^^^ Thanks Dan.
Having been a wannabe outdoorsman since I can remember, I always enjoy this thread.
There's something about the great outdoors that cheers and calms the soul. It's not always easy to get pics that show the beauty but here's a couple from yesterday's walk. It was 0 deg. C, still I was able to work up a pretty good sweat.
It was a nice sunny day

Since finding a Victorinox huntsman about 30 years ago I've had it, or something like it, in my gear ever since.
Yesterday it was this Farmer in my RFP.

It was also a calm day so I could venture into the open fields a bit to enjoy a glorious blue sky

Recently I've been enjoying small fixed blades like this Izula 2 seen here on a walking staff it prepared

A good path for cross county skis (or kick sleds???) but I was content just to mosey for awhile

Game was far too fleeting for my camera skills but the Hershey bar while small made the work out worth the effort, thanks Johnnythefox Johnnythefox for the inspiration

Great post, Red.

So not to be outfoxed ;) I stopped at a gas station on my way to the ice trails and got me a Kitkat bar :D

Temp was a very balmy -2 C which in Fahrenheit is exactly 28.41414141414141414 🤓

Ice was ok but not great having endured many skaters throughout the day and the temp being rather mild.

I went alone. My wife was busy cleaning after the holiday trip, our girls immersed in their music and I needed to burn out some of the stress that at times happens in big holiday family reunions 🤪

I did the loop 3 times for a total distance of about 7.8 km.
The first time I took it easy and took the chance to take pics along the way.

The ❄️ that I had cursed yesterday upon arriving home and finding our driveway full of it had transformed the forest with that enchanted winter look.

and eating it by the inviting warmth of the fire 😋

Invigorated by the sugar rush I was experiencing I went for the second loop and gave it my best.
I tracked it with my phone. After that I went for the 3rd time at a relaxed pace again.

I was happy to see that my average speed was slightly higher than on my previous run on Dec 24, no doubt attributed to KitKat boost I got :p
My top speed was slightly lower though 🤷‍♂️.

Dec 24th stats:

I can't help but wonder now how much my stats will improve by ingesting a testosterone loaded Yorkie bar instead 😅

Man, I knew I had been robbed when I bought our Yorkie !
It was $ 950 CAD with NO Kitkat
And he is a mixed breed at that, part Maltese or who knows what !

My emails to the breeder demanding my Kitkat are being ignored !

My wife keeps telling me to forget about it.
She says “ Just look at him , who could resist that sweet little face “ 😍

I had to agree 😊
On our drive back from visiting family for the holidays.

Here is Toby 😎

Now, whenever we stop for gas in a couple hours I’ll get me a Kitkat 😄

👍😎.

Ours was a rescue and didn't cost us anything up front.

He's a 14-year-old male named Elvis. Early last year he had a bout of bladder stones and pancreatitis that ended up costing us a tick over $3,000 USD. That was fun.

He's now on a specialized diet that isn't cheap either.

He's my wife's puppy though so, spoiled he stays.

Dan, I'm confident that underneath your street clothes is a superhero outfit with "KitKat" emblazoned across the chest. Bravo, sir.

What is this thing?

😁 Thank you lol !

That is a Kickspark, a lightweight high performance version of the traditional Kicksled used in Scandinavian countries.

👍😎.

Toby says hi to Elvis 👋😊
They are precious and part of the family indeed!

Great report,I like the idea of the warming fire.

"So not to be outfoxed" I see what you did there 🤣

I woke up to another beautiful sunny day perfect to photograph the Red Kites.

By the time I drive the 30 minutes there its gone overcast and my shutter speed is to low to hand hold steady, you also need the sun for contrast and to light the birds.

I try the new (what I think is a slightly longer route),I keep forgetting how slow I am.

By the time I get to my seat, its 14.00 I am hungry, thirsty and cold as I have only had one crumpet and a cup of tea all day.

Still no sun,but I do spot a Robin,which is a boost.

Lucky I stopped to buy KitKats as I was able to eat one on the walk in (nowhere to stop for a drink).

Thankfully I had a tomato soup sachet which was tasty along with my petrol station sandwich (pure class).

I had my larger Stanley flask so had enough water for a coffee and a biscuit for pudding. 😆

I have some new gloves described by Rab as and I quote...

"Dextrous, lightweight and designed for active mountain use, the Vapour-rise™ Glove is made using a highly breathable and fast-drying Matrix™ fabric, making it ideal for long or intense climbs."

I expect the marketing department will be having a rethink/unhappy when they see me using them on a low hill in England at a snails pace 🤣

I also have some new EDZ Merino fingerless gloves as a liner, what a difference they make even to my finger tips,I need to be able to use the DSLR controls or I could just use warmer gloves.

But as usual I enjoyed it,I think. 😂

If I remember my etymology correctly, "England" is an old Anglo-Saxon word that means "the weather sucks here."
