That's great to hear Johnny !!!

So nice that they considered your suggestions and wrote you back so quickly , especially in these times like you said.

Looks like a lot more seating areas will be installed by the spring by the sounds of it :cool:

Looking forward to pics from the base of Bald Hill in the spring :)

PS: I do not mind writing them as well regarding the KitKat machine 😄
There is a lot more people getting out and about since lockdown it will also help others.

I saw an old bloke last night on the bird reserve.

We had a laugh and a chat when I said to him I am pleased to see I am not the slowest one around here,I think he knew Queen Victoria.😆

I am being selfish when I wish the kids would get back on their play stations and phones and leave the outdoors to me 🤣

redsparrow redsparrow Great shots, great looking country. How did you manage to get rid of all the people?
Thanks, Michigan is a pretty state.

Well I could say... that first I ask them nicely to stay home that day, then I release the hounds 30 minutes prior to my walk... but the truth is, I just go where they don't. :)

Yes, but sometimes it's OK to think of your needs first. Like the flight attendants explain before takeoff. ;)

Best weather in ages.

These are the iPhone photos.

I have traded my 300mm Nikon lens for the much smaller lighter newer model (S/H).

So I went where I normally go to see the red kites as I am guaranteed sightings and so could try out the lens.

You guessed it, I didn't see one or even here one whistling not even on the car journey, thats why its called wildlife pesky varmits.😌

Still 2 minutes out of the car park I saw a small deer it easily jumped this fence,to quick for a photo.

The south side of the hill was sunny, muddy, slippery and very warm,I took of my gloves and hat, great to feel the sun on my bonce.

I had put on long johns and to many layers,I was puffing like a steam train by the time I got on top of the hill with steam coming off me 😅

Still no kites just 2 crows, but what a view the moon was out,no excuses for all the moon pics I was carefully placing it around trees and the like.

I had a coffee and half my Yorkie bar and waited, nowt happening.

Later I had another of the excellent hot chocolate drinks I have become addicted to packed up and trudged back.

The North side was still frozen, ground hard and frosty,it was going to get cold soon.

At the car park I was treated to a magnificent setting sun just after I spotted a robin following me along the path.

The repair to my camera bag was good as where the wrist straps I put on my Nikon DSLR,it made things easier walking.

I havent looked at the camera photos yet.

My walk was shorter than planned this morning, because the bridge/aqueduct over Seneca Creek was closed for repairs.

It was a brisk 23 degrees F (-5C) with a light breeze, but as you can see almost all of last week’s snow was gone. I did find one small patch of snow for a photo op.

Good to see your old faithful Okapi accompanying you on your walk Tom :)

The 4 of us managed go to a nearby forest for a one hour walk today.

I said "managed" because is VERY COLD today. Temp is -20 C ( or -4 F ), with a wind chill of -27 C ( -16.66666 F )

I have not figure out any other way to fight off "cabin fever" and avoid going insane in our small home lol 🤪

On the way there my wife got slightly upset at me  as I forgot my gloves 🤯.
I replied to her " but you ALWAYS pack my gloves" ... to which she says ...
"I PUT THEM ON THE COUNTER FOR YOU " to which I say…. nothing 🤐 😀

Anyhoo LOL, we had some of those warm packs in the car so I grabbed a couple and kept my hands inside my jacket pockets during our walk.

We had a rather nice walk after all :)

I thought that since it was so cold it was only fair that I subject a Canadian 🇨🇦 knife to the same punishment's I had so I brought along one of my Grohmann knives

We also managed to take a photo of the "El abominable hombre de las nieves" close to my Grohmann that I had stuck on a tree as bait.

Wow. According to some random website, the last time Washington DC saw -4F was in 1994, and I assume that was at night. It is usually just a few degrees colder where I am. The Potomac does freeze over sometimes, but it has been many years since I have seen it happen.

I did put on a few extra layers this morning, and joked to myself about “embracing the cold like Dan does”, but honestly it was pretty comfortable out because the wind was light. I probably could have done without the sweater, and had to unzip my jacket after a while.

It was very cool of the Yeti to pose for a picture like that. He looks pretty stylish in his winter gear.

I keep spare gloves, jacket and socks in my car as my memorys like a sieve and ive turned up somewhere to walk and forgotten things.

I also have a snow shovel, snow socks (for the car) bottles of water, tins of beans all in case we get one of our once in a decade or even 2 decades snow storms that traps us 😂

Its also a hangover from the convoys I did where I had to be totally self sufficient.
