Nice pictures jack! It looks like today is going to warm up to the low 20's so im hoping to get out for a hike with my son. My hartshead barlow will ride along.

Thank you :) I hope you get some sunshine, and enjoy your hike :) That's 10 degrees colder than it was here yesterday, but it was very damp too. Have fun with your Hartshead Barlow 👍

Very nice shots Jack, the mist gives everything a dreamy, magical feeling
You capture a bit of everything ... spider webs, wildlife, misty forests, the moon, fungi and your HHB of course
Enchanted vibe to the walk :)

How do you like the little stove ( I am checking it on its website )

Thanks Dan, I have a lot of 'twig stoves', (and even more stoves in general). and that's actually one of the bigger ones I have, though it's in titanium. Probably bigger than I needed yesterday, but a good, versatile size, light, quick to assemble, stable, and it works well. Comes with a nice pouch too :)

Here's a smaller one, I use quite a bit, with various fuels. It's also titanium (though I have a stainless model too)

Edit - Here's another one Dan, they're all very light

Jack, maybe a compact camera is all you need.
The pics are enjoyable and entertaining and the stove discussion educational.
Guess there's not much a Spiderlamb Guardian can't do!🕷️
Especially when he's got an attractive HHB on hand!!!

Custom knife?
It's an Enzo Elver, flat-ground in D2 Mr C  I think it's Brisa branded now

Hmm, made in Finland. I used to know a Finn. He was a famous American poet who wrote in English, but he was born and raised in Finland. Very cool guy, but I don't recall that we ever talked about knives.

Nice knife, Jack. :)

Thank you my friend :) I had a school pal from Finland, his dad was a visiting lecturer at Sheffield university

I decided to go to Wytham woods today as I haven't been for years I always pronounced it WITHAM but apparently everyone else pronounces it WHITEAM (boring fact of the day).

I finally left after changing my mind 10 times on what knife to take

It belongs to the University so we are lucky it lets us working class, soap dodgers in 😅

When I arrived it said closed for animal management and warning shooting, what they mean is they are culling the deer, some dont like it (so words not used) but there are reasons for it.

The woods features in Inspector Morse as does Godstow lock about a mile away.

So a quick think and make plan B, walk along the tow path away from town, should be less people then.

It was about 8C with occasional sun so not to arduous.

Lots of wildlife in the hedges and fields, I saw a fierce cat and a Rabbit besides the birds that is.

When you think you knife has patina then you spot this long boat,The ice breaker was a first for me with an interesting history.

Famous name but a different meaning here.Muddy Waters (blues),Goose Green (paras Falkland island)

Planning committee lets blend in the railings finance office we have a lot of yellow paint left over from a previous job.

A little chilly out again this morning at 12F (-11C), but calm wind and comfortable for walking, although the condensation from my breath did cause ice to form on my beard. Parts of the lake and creek had ice in them too.

You will just have to take my word for it when I say this is a picture of a Pileated Woodpecker:
