Photos A Walk in Nature

Our oldest daughter and I went xc skiing yesterday and today. We have been going since she was 10 yo.
This is our last winter as the next one she'll be several thousand miles away in university.
I got an extra winter though as she is taking a gap year to finish her music diploma an a few other courses ( and get her driver's and BOAT license too lol )
Our youngest one was never interested in xc skiing however today she hinted that she may want to learn next winter using her sister's gear :)

Pictures from yesterday, with my newly arrived Albers in Katalox wood.

She took this one with her phone.
If you zoom closer to the tree far away in the middle you will notice an odd fellow taking pictures of knives on tree stumps :p

The knife picture in question 😁

We just might need to move to a new winter wonderland. The opposite of the snow birds of Maine flying to Florida in the winter. I miss a snowy winter and might just move when we retire (not so far off) to a winter home that will allow playing in the snow and keep our "summer" home for playing on the water and in the wood the other 3 seasons. Thanks Dan for the inspiration!! Yesterday I was SUMMER dreaming and today I am WINTER dreaming.

I am feeling it too brother Colin 🥶 :)
I am only about an hour southeast from you and this morning it was -33 C when I woke up.
By 10 am it was -27 C and now we have reached our high of -19 C

No walks in nature for my Albers and I today 😊 ... unless they are virtual ones on this thread ;)

Thank you my friend ! :)
Time sure goes by fast !!! , and keeps on dragging me forward kicking and screaming as I try to slow it down :)
Empty nest syndrome looms nearer in the horizon … but is ok … good kids, time to let them fly.
They'll always have a place to call home :)

On a day like today I totally empathize with the ❄️🐦Ray 😀
I only got out once for less than a minute today to take the dog out.

Virtual trip down memory lane to the beaches of Prince Edward Island to balance things out.

It was cold and dreary today,I went to help a friend with a bereavement and I didn't feel like a walk afterwards.

So here are some photos from previous walks.

I have 2 kinds of walks one where I am going to actively look for wildlife and carry a proper camera.

The other a walk just to walk or to explore a area on holiday or in another country on my motorbike when I am up a mountain then I just have my small travel camera.

I enjoy them both, but like in Spain once when I came across a beautiful gorge with buzzards flying on the thermals I wished I had my DSLR with me. 😊

I will do 2 post so as not to burden your computer

It was cold (16F) and clear this morning. The path I took along the river involves a lot of hopping from rock to rock, and some easy climbing in spots. Ice on the rocks meant I had to spend more time looking at where I put my feet and less time looking at the scenery.

I saw a couple of herons and a cormorant, but nothing else remarkable in the way of wildlife
