Photos A Walk in Nature

I took a 10-mile stroll along the canal Sunday. I wasn’t going to post about it, but seeing this thread pop up again made me decide to go ahead. If everybody is sick to death of pictures of the Potomac and sycamore trees, let me know and I will stop…

I thought these were surprisingly graceful for rental rowboats:

I crossed into DC, so carried a smaller blade to stay on the safe side of any knife laws:

Took this picture a few days ago of the American White Pelicans moving through our area. They are here for a short time each spring and fall. The first picture was in our little cove and the next pictures are as I followed them around the point into a much larger cove.420581EB-85C7-47DE-9D87-E81326894B39.jpeg0424C75E-E194-4AAD-B011-18847E3E0629.jpegC6C6B9BA-8194-401E-9778-BFEE701D9974.jpeg

That must have been enjoyable to watch, Todd. 🤠

Beautiful pics and beautiful scenery :thumbsup::thumbsup:
It looks a lot like some areas of the Ozarks. Vegetation is a little different perhaps. Would have fooled me if somebody told me they were from down the road.

+1 Hope Dan is doing well.
Thanks Mike, that's interesting

J Just Tom. Were you down near great falls? The only dams I can think of are further out towards Western Maryland

Riz
It was below Great Falls, at the Little Falls dam. It is only 14 feet high, and is part of the DC water supply system. There is a river gage there as well - when it reads above 5 feet it is best to stay off the river.
