Photos A Walk in Nature

You already have “Hope” - how about “Healing” (Curación?). Sorry I don’t speak Spanish, so I don’t know the connotations of that or if it would make an appropriate boat name…

I certainly hope that some peaceful moments on it have a therapeutic effect :).

Thank you Tom, I am dreaming of those peaceful moments out in nature with my sweetheart enjoying each others company and just "being" in the moment.
Even if it happens only a couple of times this summer it will be the total highlight of it

This experience is certainly putting everything in life into a different perspective.
Thanks for the name idea !

Thanks for the update Dan, dreaming of a trip like that together may just be the best medicine of all. That beautiful boat is a great start. We’ll continue to keep Diana and your entire family in out thoughts and prayers. 😊
Gracias mi amigo :) We certainly appreciate the prayers and kind words !
Very cool Dan. I looked at the Potter 19 you had mentioned and scanned the for sale adds but those are pricey day sailors and not to be found any closer than California or Florida. Glad you found this new craft. I was thinking that a good name might be Cello's Hope - yes you already have your Esperanza but Hope by any other name ... 🥰 Anyway, just came to mind. You 4 will certainly be inspired among you to come up with a worthy name.

Steady on Diana. All the best.

Thanks for looking and doing some search on that boat Ray . My search for quite a while yielded the same results. Those Floridians and Californians don't let them go out too easily LOL  …and they also get a boating season that last the whole year ☀️ … NOT FAIR 😊
Thanks for the name idea, I am thinking something around those lines.

Beautiful and serene picture :)

Thanks for the update CelloDan CelloDan , you and your family are always in my thoughts my friend

That's a nice new find :)

Gracias Jack, I appreciate that very much !

A few pics from my walk yesterday

I love those majestic old trees in the pics and how green everything looks. Certainly a beautiful place to walk to let nature do some soul therapy.
Beautiful pics of the swans :cool:

Thank you kindly Dan :)

I love BOGS - very compelling environment to me. Don't know what it is but it is!

I did not know about it either Ray until recently when, just like Hibou Canne Hibou Canne went for a walk in one.

"A bog is a specialized habitat, generally a wetland that has accumulated peat. Acidic low-nutrient water occurs at surface level of bogs. Because of this, plant growth and decomposition of organic materials is very slow, and the peat can be several feet deep."

From our walk that day

Hi Dan - when I wrote "I don't know what it is" I was referring to my appreciation and wonder of bogs. In other words - I don't know what it is about bogs that compel me - they just do! I have spent time in more than a few and they always mesmerize me - from the miniaturized plants to the great variety of exotica. All in all a pretty cool environment. Maybe it is like being on the water but more stable. 🤔 Always good to see more photos of them.

Well Ray, ... better get used to repeating things to me in preparation for boating together so my Spanish wired brain can comprehend LOL. 😁

I still crack up about it when I thought that your picture of the polypore on tree had been there since you were a baby 😅
( for those that don't know, Ray knows this polypore since IT was a baby )

Hadn't checked on this thread in a while. Praying for Diana and your family, Dan.

Some really beautiful scenery and photography in this thread.

Gracias Vince !!!
It is certainly appreciated.

Diana had her first chemo treatment a couple weeks ago. It lasted several hours as it involved 3 drugs that had to be infused very slowly. The side effects of it hit her a few days later and they are certainly not pleasant at all but she bounced back from it really well. The oncologist is very pleased on how she managed her first treatment. Next week she will have her second cycle.

As her hair was starting to fall out she decided to get it over and done with and asked me to cut it off. Our daughter braided her hair, we took a couple pictures and then we cut them off.
It is not easy and crying does help.

I kept one braid. I am keeping it wrapped in the waxed paper and inside the tube of my very special Mount of Olive knife that I've been carrying to all her doctor's appointments and treatments.

Thanks for the prayers !

Once a year or so, when I'm in Tennessee, I try to take a trip to Corbin, Kentucky to place flowers on some graves. This year I took the scenic route and stopped by Cumberland Falls.

Forgot to take a knife pic while I was at the falls 😬
Had the 29 in my pocket the whole time :)

Brand new city park on the Missouri River. First time I've been there.

It should be noted that Adrian's Island is only an island when the water is high enough, but not too high 🌊 Sorta like Rhode Island I think 🤔

A sand barge came by. A lot of sand is dredged from the river. Keeps the shipping channel where boat operators think it is, and supplies sand for various things like making concrete.

Wildlife enjoying the new park. There were half-dozen of these guys (gals?) scattered around eating the new grass seed DukeGirl.gif

Missouri's State Capitol. Where the magic happens o_O

The park is still under construction. It'll be a nice little riverside park when its done. There's at least one unpaved trail I'll have to explore next time.

Thanks Todd. The park was a long time coming. When I originally moved to the area in 1984, I was stunned that Jefferson City did not have a riverside park. There was one called "Riverside Park", but it was up on the bluff. Nice park, but...
Nice that JC finally has a true riverside park. Hopfully the plants they're planting can survive periodic, prolonged submersion 🤽‍♀️

CelloDan CelloDan - Forgive me for being so late in seeing this Dan. You and Diana and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I am looking forward to her full recovery and you guys adventuring up and down the northern waterways together.

Thank you so much Dwight !!!
Diana is seating right here beside me as I was checking BF and I showed her you kind words of encouragement. TY ! :)

It's a very nice day today here in eastern Ontario ( two days ago we had a bit of ❄️ again 😯 ).
We'll go for a nice walk this afternoon with our daughters as well, ... something we have not done all of us together in a while.
Looking forward to it :)
