Photos A Walk in Nature

Wow GREAT spread you've got going there Dan - for 2 people and a diminutive dog. 🤗
You are living a good life my Brother.

Looks like you're living well my friend :)

Thanks guys :)
I got to say those bluegills and that poor unfortunate bass tasted really good 😋😀
Diana really loves those fish meals by the river ( and me too , ... btw, I am still traumatized and sorry for trying that greasy KFC chicken last year in one of my "adventures" lol :) )

The side effects from her treatment last Friday, mainly fatigue and mental fogginess started today as we expected ( third day post chemo )
We took it really easy today and just hanged around a shaded area while I fished and prepared the meal. The breeze coming from the water felt really good.
Good to be safe and sound back at home , showered and looking forward to sleeping in our king size bed rather than Serena's cramped quarters :)

Thanks guys :)

I haven’t eaten a bluegill since I was a kid pond fishing. Pan fried paradise!
Im always sorry to hear someone’s ill. I’m a survivor since ‘08. It’s a thorny path that must be walked. They’re very good these days, and you’re there to hold her hand.

Looks like you and Diana had a very nice trip, thanks for taking us along!

Just got back from a camping trip. No matter how many knives I take along with me, I always like to bring a traditional folder as well. Particularly enjoyable around the campfire. This time it was the Case Copperhead

Great pics

Spent a little time in Saratoga springs state park last weekend. Did some of the trails while we were there and enjoyed a concert Saturday evening at Saratoga performing arts center also located within the park.

There are about 13 mineral springs here most of which are naturally carbonated, which gives the water a very unique taste. Also because of the built up carbonation there are a couple of natural spouters ( basically small geysers ).
One of which is pictured below

High iron content in this spring ( I couldn't drink it ) 😝

Wish I had stopped for a few more pics but there isn't much elevation change on these trails so we kept up a pace to get the most out of the hike there. Great place to visit. Great downtown and some really good trails in the county outside this park.

Of course I had my white owl on me. Thanks for coming along.

Thanks for taking us along 😊
I just checked google maps and Saratoga Springs is only a 3:45 hr drive from were we are right now … I thought I would just throw some random fact in my post 😄

We are at it again this weekend I am afraid exploring the 1000 Islands region on the Saint Lawrence ( well … NOT ALL of the 1000 🏝 😜)

Diana is feeling well now after a rough couple days last Tuesday and Wednesday and we are both excited to get some more “nature therapy “

The fact that I am posting at 3 am is because she is snoring 😴 very loudly here inside Serena’s belly 😁

I tried taking a photo of my knife which was still in my pocket however it’s too dark… obviously 🙄 and I will have to make up gor it 😎

3:45 hours? That would be like driving to Belleville. Good fishing there too.

We have a place near the Great Sacandaga lake which is just about 30 minutes from Saratoga so the trip into town is pretty easy. But home home is actually 3 hr 45 minutes away for us from the lake house. We rarely venture far from the lake because the fishing is usually pretty good. Unless we're venturing into the woods. I guess what I'm trying to say is the ride is totally doable into Saratoga from where you are according to your fun fact (we do it all the time) 😆

Glad to hear she's feeling better and ready for more nature therapy. Nothing like fresh air and some sunshine to soothe the soul. You guys enjoy your weekend!

Nice walk and photos Jack 👍😊
and polypores for Ray too 😎

We had a nice day yesterday exploring a couple islands, going into town to resupply, check a boat show and a tall ship and doing dome sailing.

We are trying to pack less each time we go out as we were bringing too much unnecessary stuff.

As part of this minimalist aproach I brought my opinel for this trip … and my SAK of course 😁

Thanks Dan :) A useful source of tinder :)

Great photos my friend :)

I had quite an eventful day outdoors today involving:
-Emergency fishing rod repairs using my Fieldmaster (which I never carry but had grabbed because of the saw - thinking I might find a suitable branch to make a slingshot), and
-Catching a good sized catfish right when I was about to give up, after switching up my rig in a last desperate effort. I definitely would have lost him if not for the repair I had made.

I grilled the catfish and it was delicious. I also grilled the chicken I had defrosted in anticipation of another fish-less outing, so I’m stuffed to the gills, as it were.

All my pictures from Postimages.org are showing as red ‘x’s again, so I will regale you all with images after I compose a post using Imgur or something.

The plastic ring inside the line guide at the tip of the rod fell out, leaving sharp-edged metal. Would definitely have cut the line if I tried to reel in any decent-sized fish.

It worked!

At about 18” it wasn’t as big as my last one, so instead of filleting it like usual I cleaned it, cut the head and fins off and skinned it, to preserve as much of the meat as possible. Turned out to be plenty for 2.

Used this other red plastic handled knife to skin the catfish. The cheap tackle box knife wasn’t sharp enough.

Dinner:

River, and old canal spillway
