About the contest thread

Can't the contest go ons as per original thread but have all post a waiver to RAT?

If I had to enter I would have to battle winter, the big 5 etc, Just kidding.

RAT does not want anything to do with the decision making process concerning anything that may put someone's life in jeopardy. Whatever yall do, is up to yourselves. But we would like to judge the stories and photos of anything you do and then award prizes for the best.

Lupus reminded me of prior plans. but that will work
Is that kwl with you taurn? it does not fall within this month?

I'm still trying to find land to do it on. If I can I'm in, though I'll be taking a first aid kit, and other "Oh shit" supplys that are to remain unused.

If know one minds I'd like to start a new tread for the survival contest. With just the rules and regs. for this as well as a dead line for it.

just call rules and regulations "Guidelines". Then River Rat gets his pipe, taurn gets to not die, and everybody's happy.

That was never within the rules.
I would think we should stay as close to the originals as possible.
Real simple rules:

A blade (one only), anything you can fit into an Altoids tin (standard size for the all the smart people! ), standard clothing for the season and environment, notepad and pencil, camera and extra batteries. If you need to take a tripod for self-portraits, no problem. Cell phone and/or PLB for emergencies.

1) Kit innovation.
2) Actual use of the blade and the kit's tools in the wilds.
3) The most survival tasks accomplished while in the wilds for 3 days (shelter, fire, food, etc).
4) Photo documentation and note taking of the whole trip.

One man or women in, alone as though they were thrown out of the car after work one day.
Simple.
followed by taurn riverrat in accordance with the fore stated rules with exceptions being made and agree'd apon in regards to pipe and required med's.

If "oh shit supplys, and med kits" are allowed then some of the edge will be removed. Sleeping through the night with an "oh shit" glock is'nt as conserning as a knife, spear etc.
I mean the forementioned guidelines are not in stone but it would be important to have the same unity that was exhibited earlier amoungst the participants.

I wanted to spend the last 3 days of this month, too busy next month. I think the deadline should be the end of July, it should give us enough time to find a place and fit in the schedule.

I think we should all stick with the tin box, makes it easier on all of us.

and what are these "oh shit" supplies Munky88?

and crowdog, you still need to email me.

can we use found items we find in the woods like bottles 4 water and fish traps?

First of all this is not Rat Cutlery santioned. This is for those who want to go on a 3 day survival trip.

Guidelines

1. One knife of your choice

2. one standerd size altoids tin with what ever you can get into it

3. Note pad and pen or pencile for a jurnal of your trip

4. camera to take pichers and what ever camera gear you may need to document what you have done

5. Meds for those of you who may need them

6. Clothing must be what you would wear on a daily baces. But not a paracord bracelet or any thing like that

The altoids tin may be used to put what ever you may think you need to survive. The tin must close and stay closed on its own that mean no 550 cord to keep it shut. For us who may be smoker a liter should not be used there are many other ways to light your smoke. But if need be you could bring one paper match.
As for meds you don't have to worry about fitting them into your tin you may bring them in what they come in.

APSILUTLY NO FIREARMS BUG OUT BAGS OR ANY OTHER CAMPING GEAR outher then what you can get in your tin.
As always this is your life please use good judgmen when you are out there you are the only one that can say when you have to call it quits and it you do please still post your pics and let use know how faw you made it.

Start and end date yet to be posted

If a lighter can fit in your tin then its there, same with a striker and so own. i feel if you can fit a blow torch in your tin then its yours. i dont remember any thing pertaining to lighters in your tin not being allowed.
please correct me if im misunderstanding.
