Absintheur - where are my knives?

I paid $106.00 via paypal to Absintheur in 12th July 2009 for 2 knives along with 18 other people as this person had promised to deliver the 21 forum knives for another forum where he used to be a MOD. The problem is however that he gave all the excuses under the sun as to why he could not deliver the knives, and eventually he delivered only 15 out of the promised 21 knives . The last of which was delivered in May 2010.

So here we are more than twelve months after the funds were paid, I and many others have attempted to contact Absintheur and yet we are still waiting on our knives or promised refunds neither of which has happened. All we ever get is excuses or abuse, all we want is our money back.

If this person has acted like this elsewhere they will more than likely do it again , so please be warned when dealing with this person.

So Absintheur where is my refund?

He has also failed to ship a giveaway equestrian knife that I had won, and refused to answer any subsequent PM's on the matter.

Good luck.

I am one of the people that Absintheur ripped off. He has consistently REFUSED to even respond to emails, PM's on this forum and the one where the forum knife was ordered.
After much badgering (including police involvement), he has made some steps to partial compensation (still not honoring the original agreements) with the members who live in the US, but the unlucky ones (such as me) who live in Europe, Australia or elsewhere have been SOL, are getting ignored, and have been screwed out of their money.

Absintheur is a rip-off artist, a liar and a fraud. He can spin a tale like few others, but don't believe a word he says. Sooner or later, you're gonna get screwed.

I can understand why people are upset...but there has been two identical threads started this year. They were both closed because none of this activity involves Bladeforums. This thread is destined to be closed as well.

I have already asked Spark ,Blues and Bastid, about this before it was posted and they agreed that this is exactly what needs to be in the feedback area. I am a member here and was done wrong by a member here , If a person has done wrong he has done wrong, wouldn't it be better to try and prevent it happening here than to cry about it after the fact?

I have a hard time expressing how much hearing these continued allegations bothers me.

I've been a member and moderator on these forums for going on 12 years and in that time I can count on just a few fingers of one hand the number of bad experiences I've had with makers or other forum members.

I have conducted several thousands of dollars worth of transactions on a handshake or its verbal equivalent. To me a man's word is his bond.

Since I am not a party to the financial transactions being reported here I can't speak directly to them. I can only shake my head in wonder as to why these issues have not been resolved.

I can, however, speak to the issues I am directly aware of.

I was contacted by "Cuts Like A Kris" (CLAK) in regard to his enlisting my aid as a forum moderator in trying to collect on a giveaway he had won from absintheur. I had several contacts with absintheur and reported his failure to honor his promise to send the knife to my co-moderator and to the owner of the site (Spark). I thought that this matter had finally been resolved after months of back and forth. Apparently I was wrong.

In the same or related giveaway, another of our members abroad won a giveaway from absintheur. Again the knife was not sent for at least several weeks...if not a month or two.
I got involved since I was collecting knives on behalf of the member so they could be sent in one aggregate shipment to him overseas.

The knife was ultimately received by me and shipped overseas but not before I and several other forum members had been involved in trying to prod absintheur to keep his promise.
(This was via emails and pm's by me as well as reminders by the members in various threads. Again this failure to keep his forum promises was reported to both Spark and Bastid.)
All the while absintheur was logging in and posting on the forums on a regular basis.

I'm an old school guy. I take a man at his word until I have a reason to no longer believe him. Maybe that's why I am so comfortable co-moderating the "Traditional" forum with my good friend, Gus.
That said, one thing I can't abide is someone lurking in our midst and sitting in our virtual living room who is less than honest and up front with fellow members and peers.
And one thing that will not be tolerated is using our sub-forum for subterfuge or trying to get in the good graces of our members without fulfilling promises made.

I hope to hear that these outstanding issues are resolved in a fair and equitable manner for all who have their money (and trust) at stake.

I am glad this is out in the light. I have sent a private message to Philwar awhile back to find out more details. I had a bad taste in my mouth when I saw Absintheur do a give away, when he owes others money. He should be selling whatever necessary to right his wrongs. He dug a few more shovel fulls by not giving his give aways away in a reasonable fashion. I hope he makes good, he can redeem himself, if he throws away the shovel that is and a few seasons pass by. Man up abs.

he was logged in yesterday so that shows he is still around. maybe a temp ban is in order to get his attention if he fails to respond to this thread. maybe a mod needs to get his attention.

Blues I apologize. I thought that I had responded back to you on this matter, but a check of my records showed that I did not. I had intended to, and I dropped the ball on this matter (I could give excuses but shall not)- again I apologize.

You're not the one that owes an apology. (Though I certainly appreciate your consideration.)
Hopefully we'll get this matter resolved one way or another...and frankly, "another" is starting to sound good to me right now.

Thread moved to "Feedback" at suggestion of my friend and colleague, Esav.

always seemed like a decent enough guy in the traditionals forum, sad to see somebody go down in flames like this, and sad to see so many suffer through this because of him...
I Suppose he's hiding from this thread...
sad
best of luck guys

It seems that people outside the US are particularly being ignored and told a tale. It's very unpleasant indeed for everybody, wherever they live.

good chance he knows this thread exists and i'm sure he's hiding elsewhere too.

Even those he did send out hardly honored his promise... at least from what I understand they were not as promised.

I am just glad I sold out of the deal long before this all went down.

Damn! I think he's the guy that won my giveaway in traditional. I had no idea all this crap was going on.

Correct. The blades were supposed to be black and laser engraved, instead of the standard stonewash with the desired text painted on.
And the ones that received it were the lucky ones. :grumpy:

I have sent the following PM to absintheur in an attempt to get these issues resolved on behalf of the aggrieved parties:

"Since i just noticed your post regarding honor and tradition, perhaps you'll take a moment to address the issues posted here so that Gus and I will not have to continue receiving email and PM's from other forum members who have complaints about your integrity or don't enjoy having you participating in our forums (specifically the Traditional Forum).

It is an unpleasant task for us but perhaps you might do something to make it better for all concerned rather than continue posting on this site as if the matter doesn't exist."

I have copied both Spark and Bastid as well. I hope that this will help expedite the process for those still awaiting some resolution or compensation.
