Absintheur - where are my knives?

I am having a hard time not taking shots at any of his posts, but out of respect of the mods, I refrain.

Since absintheur has logged on to the site a couple of times since the PM was sent earlier today and has posted elsewhere on the forums without responding to the PM, a temporary ban has been imposed until such time that we hear from him that the matters raised in this thread are being, or have been addressed.

Specifically, offering knives via giveaways in the Traditional Forum and then not following through (plus ignoring emails and PM's) is an abuse of this site and the trust of its members.
(The unfortunate matter arising from a sister forum is further evidence in support of this decision.)

The matter will be revisited if and when we hear from absintheur.

My post from another Knife Fourm
Re:BANNED for HOW long did you say?? - 9 hrs. ago
I am a little surprised that Abs is screwing up so badly over [here] at Blade Forums! After reading some of the stories there I have to conclude that he has some compulstion to promise more than he can deliver [and do so] over and over again. His need for short term approval far outweighs the long term ruin he is doomed to repeat over and over again. He is condemed to be a "Flash in the Pan" and when that flash approval is over and all that is left are burnt offerings he goes and finds a new pan. Absenthure will be forced to reinvent himself for the next knife forum he inserts himself into. I don't think Wade is finished yet. I don't think he can stop himself. IMHO

any contact with the guy?

Not a peep. We've given him a little time to respond to the issues.

The ban will become permanent if they are not addressed.

Frankly, I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting any positive resolution. We've been down this road before.

He's sent me a couple emails asking why he's been banned and I've pointed him to this thread.

Well, I'd already sent him a PM (as referenced above) directing him not only to the thread but asking him in no uncertain terms to address the matters at hand since he likes to put on airs of being one for whom honor and tradition have meaning.

This is his opportunity to prove it's more than mere lip (or keyboard) service.

(I also made it clear at the time I processed the "temporary ban" that he had 30 days to address these matters or the ban would become permanent at that time.)

I can imagine he has no clue why he's been banned. It's not like he was ever told by anyone that he's not holding up his end of the bargain, with quite a few people...

Oh he is trying to play the victim here too I see. ROFL

He is good at that....

IMO I say just get it over with, in the end you will end up banning him permanently anyway.

Not sure where some folks are getting their information, but it is not correct.

1. He as asked to address the situation and ignored the request.

2. He was banned and told exactly why he was banned and that the banning would be revisited once the situation was resolved.

When he tries to log in he also gets this message since the moment he was banned.
"[Contact us when you have decided to address the outstanding issues which were summarized in the Feedback thread. We will review the matter of reinstatement at that time.]"

Thanks for the update. :D

I've heard nothing in regard to my original PM's or before/since I sent him the temporary ban notice (which becomes permanent in a couple of weeks).

I am not optimistic but on the other hand I am at least content to rid the forums of someone who's proven to be less than honorable.

Last response I had from him was saying that because this happened elsewhere, he shouldn't be punished here.
