Afghanistan

Moose beat me to it. But if you dont have a knife now while your going in, Ill do my best to get you one if you tell me how to get it to you. Just let me know which model. Not trying to take anything away from Moose, just dont want the OP going in without a blade.

Thank you for your service!!!

He has to check with whoever's running his unit. Or perhaps his First Sergeant.

They'll let him know what's acceptable and what isn't.

I've sent 7 knives off to Afghanistan and 4 off to Iraq. Sadly, only 7 came back.:(

I wasnt sure how that worked. Never sent one before! Sent care packages but thats a little easier.

I know my unit didnt care what we had, but one FOB restricted all blades over 3in. That was Iraq tho.

Thank you for your service to our great country. And to all else who've served. Me and my family are forever grateful and appreciative. I have the utmost respect for you men and women in uniform who serve in our nations military. Come back safe and sound.

I'll let you all know the address once I get it from my wife ( who is also military, and by the beard of Zeus is also deploying with me to the same base!). I'll post it here for whoever is interested. I am military, not a contractor, but I do the job that a contractor would/could do, so I am support. From what I hear, my wife and I are both going to be stationed on Camp Leatherneck but that could change. And yes it is high alert over there after a recent suicide attack attempt on the flight line. I thank you all for your support, it's astounding how patriotic and supportive this forum is, not just the BKT forum but the whole site. I'll keep you all posted some more, and thanks again for your support and prayers.

and in case anybody was wondering, the truck will be a ford f150. if one cannot be had for a good deal, then ill look at chevy or dodge. but if things go my way, ill be drivin built ford tough in no time!

Whats your MOS? I was a 15Q Air Traffic Controller.

Keep yourself safe. Prayers for you and all the other great folks doing what needs done everyday. You will be driving that ford in no time just mind on the job at hand and all will be good here when you get back.

I lurk around these becker parts more than I post, but thank you for your service, come back safe and in one piece. Thoughts out to you.

Good luck over there

My wife has sent "care packages" to deployed military in Iraq and Afghanistan for years. Close to 1100 packages so far. When you get there PM me with a good mailing address and you will be on her list.

Thank you for servinng.

The 90% who live on big bases and rarely leave are controlled more. They provide great services and life is different for them.

The 10% that leave the wire daily and or live on the many small remote FOB's away from the "HQ flag poles" life is less about dress rules and more about fighting. I never saw any rules about private carried knives in 16 months in Afghanistan on my second tour.

My cousin just got back from Tarin Kot last week. Thoughts and prayers for your safety and all those who serve from the many nations deployed.

Alright for all those asking, mailing address is as follows: LINE 1: LCPL WILLIAMS, LANCE, D LINE 2: 1ST MAINT BN, MAINT CO., GEM PLT. LINE 3: UNIT 42300, LINE 4: FPO AP 96427-2300. That's what I'm being told will be my mailing address. As of april or may the rank will be CPL most likely as opposed to LCPL, but that SHOULD be the only change. Again I appreciate all you support and good words.
