Afghanistan

My mom (Col Defenders wife) sent a package this week as well.

Ok, I got something from K-9 and from Larry. I'm sending the package out tomorrow, thanks for your contributions guys!

Update. The internet here doesn't really work. So checking in may be a few days in a row, or it could be an unknown amount of time between updates. Our company changed SOP a few times a day for the past week so we are all running around like chickens with no heads. So that's been fun. Been doing lots and lots of pull ups. And I received the package from Badger yesterday with the 7! That thing is enormous! First time I have ever seen a Becker in real life. Everybody around me exclaimed with oohs and aahs when I opened it and they all wanted to play with it. With the crappy internet I'll post pictures when I can, not sure how long it will take to load them. It's been great reading over everything. And worry not everything is very safe here. And other than the stress of working for the 1stSgt and CO, she is doing great. Oh yeah in case I forget, they removed her from our unit and made her company clerk so that we wouldn't be near each other. Can't have that going on hahahaha. It's been great, I'll update again in a few days or so if I can.

Good to hear, glad it made it there safe. You should have a sheath for it arriving in the near future. I want to see some pictures of it out there! Stay safe Mr. Williams

Ok, has anyone else sent anything to include in the Beckerhead box? If not, this thing is going out tomorrow. Speak today or forever hold your peace... or just get your package returned to sender.

My thoughts and prayers for your safe return will be with you, Brother. LIke many others here, I have been there and know what you are heading into. Good Luck and Hope you are home soon safe and sound.

Can anyone suggest some items that would be good in soldier packages? I want to send one to someone I know and want to make it a good one but really don't know what to put in it. Is there a website with guidelines? Can I send a knife or would that cause problems?

Knives are good to go, I had around 10 sent to me over there anywhere from 3" to 9". Jerky, workout magazines, protein, non-meltable candy, gum, crackers, flashlights, knives, sharpeners...

Ah. Sunday morning. One nice thing about being support personnel is that Sunday mornings are sometimes our time off. Plus if you get up around 4 or 5, everybody else is sleeping in, so the bandwidth is all yours for the internet-ing. The Kydex sheath made it here the other day. Fits better than a glove. Gloves never seem to fit me too well, so I don't like using that analogy. But it fits like it was born with it on. I'm still experimenting with the tek-lock mechanism. I can see how it fits over a belt, and how the holes can be used to wrap through and mount with 550 cord, but so far that's all I have managed. Anybody else have any tips or tricks for a tek-lock deal? Can't wait to get back home and test drive me a pick-up. That and some orange chicken from Panda Express. I know I know, but I don't care. I think it's delicious. Well I'm gonna continue lurking through the forums, catching up on things I have missed. I'll post again as soon as I am able.

Glad you are still safe.

I've never used the Tek-Lock so I can't help with that.

I do love some orange chicken too. They just opened a panda express about 3 miles from my parent's house. The force is strong with that one!

Keep an eye out for white Toyota Corollas. Those were always the VBIEDs when I was there. Gene pool's pretty weak in the suicide bomber category now so just maintain situational awareness and you will be fine. Hajji often suffers from "premature detonation" when trying to hit our convoys.
There are many, many faked bayonets for sale over there so don't buy any local blades unless you are certain of what you are getting. You can pick up great carpets and gem stones though, but once again, be certain of what you are getting.

And to Col Defender: Sir, as a father from a multi-generation military family, you have my deepest respect and sympathies.
God Speed

Glad you like the sheath, azwelke makes some nice ones. Here is an instructional on the tek lok...https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:3kHWI5UIgD0J:www.blade-tech.com/Tek-Lok%2520_instructions.pdf+tek+lok+instruction&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESgCQr89L0rOOyFcwPZeuT4Vm99OXjjT-DP2PnmQR94JVyIdxv28wGl9OcQkfzxAmGdBfTLmadBmoa2S2X6nOThqiVKU8JVuPkLv28kOoq6dTjWwyBHY88HRVWZLGbVI_YwMYyyS&sig=AHIEtbScDCJJ6TkNgWQBjsOnWPKYUZHKeg

I wish I could meet everybody face to face that supported me through this thread, PM's, packages, contributions to packages, prayers, anything in any way, and shake their hands and thank them personally.

First of all thank you for your service. It is because of men like you that allow me to live my life as I do. I thank you for that. Second I wish you and your wife a safe tour. Keep your head down and shoot straight.

I appreciate your offer but I all ready know what knife/knives I want to send. I just wanted to make sure it was not going to cause any problems with customs/his CO or anything like that. Thanks though.

Awesome, Thank you Jarod, exactly what I needed.
