After Sale Lounge

To be clear, I have absolutely no problem with someone buying my work and then later reselling it at a profit

That's not weird

I have a qualm with people who make it impossible for the end users to buy direct because they have a business model of simply buying and reselling without even touching the work

And this, right here, that's why I need to do a pre-order. It disincentivizes the flipping.

We will put one together. CPK wants to take care of our good customers. You have got us where we are today and if there is something you want, I want to give it to you.
And this is yet another reason why CPK has so many loyal customers.

You actually listen to them (maybe not Matt Gregory 😅), and not only try to provide the best product for the price available, you try to cater to what your customers ask for (eg. Pre-orders, despite explaining in the past why you don’t particularly favor them).

Yeah, pre-orders suck. It's going to make Jo's hair fall out. Jo is a beautiful woman. And I will still love her, even when her hair falls out. But I think she likes her hair on her head, and not torn out in fist fulls of knotted frustration.

But we have our hands full with a bunch of stuff right now and the the timing of the complexity of an additional pre-order is not great, but we have a lot of them under our belt at this point and I think we can streamline this next one. It won't have all the options that people might be accustomed to, but it will at least allow them to acquire what it is that they want without a lot of stress and drama.

Using it! Using it!

Preorder for TEN INCH integral daggers with popsicle sticks! 😅

... if you did it, I would be in. I don't even need to know what the price would be, I would figure it out.

I handled small-scale pre-orders a couple of years in row awhile back. It's awful. You can lay out the criteria and you still get the few who inundate you with change-orders, special requests, indecision, etc. I don't ever want to do it again but if I learned anything, it was reclaiming the power of a simple "no".

I'm an advocate for your pre-orders and though I am not a high volume buyer, I do everything I can to be as trouble-free a customer as I can. Hopefully we all can continue to do the same, regardless of pre-order availability.

Thanks for all that you guys do. (please don't lose any hair on our account)

Yeah, I appreciate that

Even as a machine shop, job shop, one of the things I learned early on is that daydreamers will sink you.

Some people, they don't appreciate the value of your time. And some people, they don't have a good concept on how to communicate effectively. At the end of the day, it's that 5% of the customers with 40 emails and you end up sending them the wrong thing because you missed something five pages back that screws the process up and makes everything unworkable.

A long time ago I used to try to keep a list and I screwed that up and there are people who won't buy from me now cuz they're mad because they slipped through the cracks. Dude, it's hard. Nobody in their right mind would make high-end knives for a living.
