After Sale Lounge

Does anyone have a picture of two CPK’s that are wearing Double Black Linen Micarta vs Double Black Canvas Micarta?

Got lucky and got in the sale today and the stress of choosing what color scales is almost as bad as the sale!

Is the crusty vintage Micarta the same as AECM or different?
Here are a couple examples ... one crusry one not ... hope they help some. There are a handful more pictures scattered about.
Seems like there's a lot of variance in color, e.g.

are both crusty, but one of them is mostly crust and the other is just near the spine. Lots of other photos in this thread https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...and-impressions.1814630/page-17#post-22718433

They are a brand new product this year, the non exposed VIP (since milling) hasn’t had a chance to change colors yet.

Here is mine.

This is non crunchy. Note the darkening of the scales at the rear due to exposure (luck of the draw/cut).

One more request, does anyone have a pic of a Buffed Burlap vs VIPM or crusty?

Someone should start a thread titled”CPK Scale Picture thread”. Please don’t post unless you state the name of the scale. 🤷‍♂️

Top to bottom
-Buffed VIP Micarta on the Basic 5 CW
-Buffed Crusty Vintage International Paper Micarta on the FK3 from the Pre-order
-Buffed Burlap on the Reaper (I have a feeling it’s extra buffed if that’s a thing, since it’s pretty shiny and the burlap’s pretty detailed)
-Un Buffed Burlap on the DEF 2. I did polish it some with Johnsons paste wax and oiled them. The color and details came out much better after

Thanks william, interesting to see the buffed crusty vs buffed VIP together.
I always thought that the crusty VIP micarta is darker and more "ripe colored' than the regular VIP.
seems like I might be wrong.

Thanks Nathan. Will AECM ever be offered again? It’s my favorite micarta from you because of the unique fiber orientation.

Yeah we will offer it again in the future, I have some more of it, it's just time-consuming and we're trying to stay streamlined right now until the to-do list gets shorter.

further question, since Nathan has tons of the VIP, will it be possible to offer it in edge cut fiber orientation?

The antique material is coming from a machined shape and can be oriented in any direction. The VIP is a sheet that lends itself to our manufacturing's process. It's very nice material, I got a lot of it, I didn't pay out the nose for it, it's compatible with our process, so I can offer it at a very reasonable price that anybody can afford if they want to try this material. It's good stuff.
