Ag russell

I have followed this thread from the beginning. Being a businessman and somewhat new to knives and this site, I have come to the following conclusions -

1. I had never heard of A.G. Russell prior to this. Now that I have, his site is bookmarked and I will visit it regularly and will soon purchase product from A.G. The OP has in effect created a form of internet advertising for the firm.

2. A.G. has been more than "fair" in both his responses and his carry through actions. This translates to customer service in my mind.

3. Those that are the most critical of his business practices most likely don't run a business and based on their responses are not likely to know the in's and outs of how to start a company and run it successfully in what i deem to be an established and competitive market ( knives). Yes, he has made a mistake or two but the man acknowledges this and moves on.

So going forward maybe a few of you will take the time to add to this thread a quick update on your purchase every time you buy a product from A.G. - I am going to do this!
Viral advertising at its best!!

Let me say 2 things First, the OP sounds like a flake. Second, AGR is top notch in my book.

But, to answer your question about when should you stop honoring it? IMO - when you stop posting it on your webpage. If your folks still had it up - then that is their/your error.
You should be free to stop it at any time of your choosing by taking it off the page - it is America.

Again, I have no issues with AGR and would recommend them to anyone. It is only this one minor area that I obviously have a diff opinion about (since it was brought to light here)- and that's ok - it is America.
No worries here.

I gotta agree with these comments.
Now I think the OP has a few issues, should he have posted here - probably not.
However, if you post a discount - it should be honored. IMO

And AG did honor it, despite announcing discontiuation of the offer over a year ago.

Once I confirmed that he was indeed a dep Parole officer I found a knife in the Photo area and he has arranged to buy it.

Whenever you choose as the head of the company, especially since you are the one whose pockets these discounts come out of.

I'm an AGR fanboy all the way. ^^^ This is why.

I'm also a businessman, too. BOTH brownshoe and Gastonknife bring up honest and also valid points. I see their point. There is never going to be complete consensus on how this would be handled. Each of us would do it 'Our' way, and AG did do it HIS way.

I like that he discovered/reflected on the OP's qualifier and covered him to satisfaction of both parties, despite previous 'rule changes'.

In the VERY best of businesses, there are two rules for success:

1. The Customer is always right.
2. If the Customer is wrong, reread Rule #1.

In the long run, this will amount to unimaginable growth.

Thanks Karda and cziv. Sorry Wolfmann This thread is the first that I knew of the problem. Once I confirmed that he was indeed a dep Parole officer I found a knife in the Photo area and he has arranged to buy it.

This is exactly what I thought would happen based on my purchases from AGR Knives. This leaves me wondering why the OP didn't come back and let us know that it worked out in his favor. He took the time to bash someone; he should take the time to make it right.

I've always had good results and customer service when ordering knives through AG Russel,Their top shelf in my book.

Thanks Coop for the kind words, however, I must tell you that rule #1 is Treat everyone just like you want to be treated. I have more great customers than ANYONE in the knife business (not MORE customers) and the GREATEST STAFF. When I get a customer beating up on or swearing at one one the ladies that works with me I see that the customer changes or that he becomes a NON-customer.

We guarantee that the customer must be satisfied and that he is in charge of how long he should be satisfied.

that has worked for me and my customers for over 40 years.

I want to thank everyone in this thread, including the OP, he helped remind a few of my customers and to attract a few new ones for me. God Bless you all

A. G.

In all fairness, he has not had time, he could not have placed his order before yesterday. I just turned his knife over to the Customer Service people today.

I love how this thread which was supposed to be bad feedback, actually proved A.G Russell is a great company, ironic.

I respect the heck out of all you guys that work in retail. I am afraid I would be killing those customers who demand that "the customer is always right"!!!

I had a customer tell my clerk that he was the customer and therefore in the right while demanding unreasonable service, the next time he came in I took him into the confrence room and explainedc the rules and he has become a really fine customer

I may be very late in responding to this thread but, active Military discount I can see, in the state of Florida LEO's are in the top 10% of wage earners. Discount??????

Rick, last July first the discount changed to Active Duty Mil only and only for A. G. Russell knives.

for the record, i am a repeat AGR customer...

but my feeling is that the discount should have been honored as advertised, and then the discount should have been removed/modified after the transaction...

but the OP's actual product availability is now moot - the Acies appears to be no longer available (sold out?)

It very well might have been, but there apparently was a breakdown in communications...not sure exactly when, but was not cleared up before the Acies was already gone.

But AG took other steps to make the OP happy.

BUI,

I suggest that you email me and tell me just what you want. The Acies sold out a few days ago.

Let us start with an email that gives me your name and address so that I can talk to my staff and then I can talk to you and if not make you happy at least let you know that we TRY to do as we should.

Once I confirmed that he was indeed a dep Parole officer I found a knife in the Photo area and he has arranged to buy it.

Yep, the original Acies is sold out.
But the new smaller Acies is about to be available.
According the latest KCC flyer, AGR should get the first shipment in a couple of weeks.

Well you know about mice and men. I gave the wrong person the one found in Photography and it was entered and instantly went to someone who had an order that had not been filled. SO I went to my closet and pulled the one I had set aside for me in case I damaged or lost my first one and had them send that one.

we already have the Acies2 but he wanted the original.

thanks for the update on this... i was confident there would be good resolution! gratifying to see personal involvement by the BMOC!

:-)

(and looking forward to a new version of the Acies - a great knife!)
