Great minds think alike.. Was just sitting here thinking this latest release must be getting into hands shortly, and i saw your post. Glad you you could get one, and that snakewood looks great. Bet you it is better in person then in the photo, they always are.
Very happy with it. I think it looks just like the one on his website. I love the fact that Eric is following his dream and having succes at it.
Unfortunately I agree on both accounts. I don't buy any extra GECs of a run to cherry pick and trade when I have the opportunity but I see that they're being sold at $150-$200. And I haven't seen any pictures of Albers knives that look like they're putting in concerted duty. I think the uptick in people joining the hobby and buying slip joints is a result of the pandemic. Maybe it will die down if people are able to have a more interactive lifestyle again.
I hope to get one sometime. When I heard about them, they sounded ideal to me. Like a knife I would have spec'ed out for myself. I think what Eric is doing is really cool. His history with previous manufacturers and his decision to turn out knives like these that don't fall into the "custom knife" lane demonstrates impressive effort to get these knives out. I'll be one of the first to sign up here for some kind of BF special opportunity, but I'll also acknowledge that there isn't much otherwise he could do and not make this a big headache for himself. Maybe a lottery, but again, he'd be doing us a favor by agreeing to that.
I'm double parked and have to move my car, sorry i cannot see her.my wife would like a word of each of you separately.
Got my stag (1 of 8 I'm told) in the mail today, shipping was nearly as fast as drop! It will have to be considered my luckiest knife from here on considering the odds of getting it.
Love it, comparing it next to the GEC 74 that came in the same mail drop - thank you miltmaldo for that one. Stag is similar in color to a couple of Loinsteel knifes I own.

Get in line buddy!
This is near impossible without Eric needing to spend significant amount of time sorting through previous buys. Even then, he is still looking at 1000 plus interested buyers...
Problem is the guys that buy to flip (it is a business for them) will find a way to circumvent any measure that is put in place stop them. If sales are limited to only those that haven't bought one before, they will use a straw buyer or different shipping address to buy again.and yes, he will still have 1000 potential buyers, but with each run, the number of potential buyers will drop (perhaps not if the popularity increases). Regardless of the number of potential buyers after each run, the chance of acquiring one of his knives will increase for those who never bought one.

Glad to see some of you scored a knife from Eric. I did get his email, and logged into the website 4 - 5 minutes after the email time stamp to see sold out on all the offerings.
I'll just have to be happy with this one, from a few years back, until things quiet down.

I do not think a significant amount of time is required for this. He already has the names and the account details of previous buyers. It would simply be an act of copying them into an excel spreadsheet and putting a notice statement on-site saying "the buying rights reserved for the first time buyers in the first week, if you have previously bought please do not place an order during the first week if you do, the purchase will be cancelled and the amount will be refunded" Then he will simply use the search button when sorting the orders to see if any of the orders during the first week had a previous record. All this should not take more than half an hour. Even if it takes more, I am sure nobody will complain if Mr. Eric decides to reflect that hourly rate cost to the knife prices.

Guys, let's not turn this into another "Here's what GEC should REALLY do" type thread. Eric Albers makes a tremendous quality knife in a time when all quality slipjoints are ultra desirable. He's doing the best he can, and frankly, it seems counterproductive to me to suggest he should come up with a bunch of new procedures, because a few folks who just now heard about him and his knives are having an issue getting them. Join the club, it's an issue getting ANYthing desirable right now. Trying to turn Eric into a database admin is a nonstarter. Let the man work, and run his business how he decides.
Thanks!
Not sure on the Barlow comparison. That's impossibly fine stag, Gary. I haven't had any of the CSC jacks, but I've had a handful of the barlows. Same frame, just the short bolster and single blade?
