All in on jacks

You can trust in that, Ryan :)

Everytime I get a new knife I give them a stern talking to. I explain to them that they are not my only knife and they may miss me at times.

Okay, so Jackknife is more of a general term and then there are patterns? What pattern would this knife be described as? Or am I not understanding this correctly?

Thanks for helping me understand.

Kevin

Kevin,

LG4 defines this knife as a Cattle knife, double ended jack, Eureka pattern.

The waters really can get muddied when discussing patterns but I find the terminology interesting to say the least.

Thank you, Ken! I find it very interesting too. What is LG4?

I know I have commented on a lot of your knives, but that one grabbed a hold of me more than any other knife. For a while I was really stuck on equal end cigar type patterns. Lately I have REALLY been enjoying patterns with a little more shape if that makes sense :)

These photos of it really add to my attraction of the knife. The spear blade with the tang completely sunk into the joint. That is one reason I like my GEC 57 whittler. But your knife is so much more graceful and subtle in design. It looks like a knife that would be perfect for me.

A careful examination of my avatar will show that, indeed, there is no head in that beret.

But, your observational humor is noted and appreciated.

Here are some of medium sized jack knives. Three older ones I only recently came across. They've been in a bag in a closet for many years.

Just the three older ones.
