Almost time to know (2012 Case/Bose) colab gossip thread.

Trying to read the card in the background of the group shot, I can just make out

Autumn Bone
Chestnut Bone
Ebony
Abalone
something Stag (Sambar?)

My wish is granted. Maybe I really do have a fairy Godmother who is watching out for me.;)

I think the first one is Antique bone judging by the looks and the previous releases.

Have not picked up a slipjoint in quite awhile but this looks like a must-have!!

Cool! I like Antique bone better, by far. I was just extrapolating based on the blur in the pic. Guess, none-the-less.:D

4/5 ain't bad!

That is one pretty knife! Not a Bose collab., but I'm looking forward to the reintoduction of the copperhead out of the vault this yeat. Lost my old oatmeal bone one.

I don't know what to do now. I went to the near by Case dealer today and they told me they can't get me one. Could someone please help me out with getting on a list or who I could contact to get one when they come out. Much appreciated.
Ben

For all of those asking in this thread on "Where to get a Case Bose Collaboration Knife", if you type "Case Bose Coffin Jack" into a Google Search, you will get a pretty good idea of what knife dealers will be selling them, since they sold the last one. I've never got one, but many of these dealers will put you on a waiting list, and you can pre-purchase them before they are released. I've seen some start offering them in the summer.

If you want to get one in person, and take a look at one before you buy, it gets a little tougher.

This list of "Master Dealers" might include some good WR Case Dealers to ask.

Steven G. was there and I got to talk to him yesterday. His words: "they hit it out of the park on this one, my favorite since the slimline."

From someone who does not throw praise around lightly, that tells me something. ;)

I confess my ignorance about the matter, and take the chance to ask a question. I may be the only one around here not to know it...but I have no shame in admitting that
So, I'd like to have someone explain me a few things about the Case/Bose series.
I understand that it's a special run (no idea how many knives they make, but surely it's a limited series), that they're designed by Bose and produced by Case (but I'm not sure on this).
I have no idea of how you can get one (apart from bribing one of the biggest dealers :D ), and I'd like to have a clue on it...just to know how it works.
Back to the 2012 Case/Bose...it's an awesome pattern and one of my favourite designs. The only "fault" is that 3 7/8" is too big for me...I'm voted to smaller knives lately, so I don't think I will be going after this. Still, it does look great, and I'm sure it will make many people happy.

You pretty much have it covered, Fausto. Tony usually builds a completed one, and a "knock-down" where the parts are able to be taken apart.
He then works with a team of top cutlers to perfect the process of making them. A near-custom quality knife is the result, with a good (lifetime?) warranty. Tony is very tough on the quality he expects!! The knife carries his reputation!!

A bargain at the usual prices, in my opinion. I will buy one for sure!!

Charlie, thank you for your answer, kind and informative as always.
I really like the pattern of this year's Case/Bose, and I wish it was smaller...or maybe I will grow my hands bigger and get the ebony one :D

This is an absolutely beautiful knife, and the collaboration with Bose is a brilliant move on Case's part. Unfortunately, for the price I'd rather go with one of the custom makers around here.

Having said that, it will be very hard to not chase one of these down :)

Case/Bose stand up very good against customs. The ones I have are better than most customs at the same price. Best user slipjoints made today. No safe queens at my place.

the pre-orders that I am finding are all full, can anyone steer me in a direction for a pre order, really want a stag one. thanks

Kris

Anyone hear about a release date for these? Hoping they aren't already scooped up before I can get one. Just sent a reminder email to my hookup.

I have stag one on order, I am planning on october. I think the bone ones are scheduled out this month.

Kris

I just talked to Case, the bone ones will be out middle of this month and stag and abalone will be scattered in the weeks following. Personally, I am very excited.

I called my store, and found that I am at the top of the list. Antique or chestnut bone, whichever one is available first. Now I just need to sell a kidney to finance it...

This is going to be an amazing knife I'm sure, but it's about a quarter inch too long for me. I'm sure if I end up buying one (which is more than likely) I'll eventually sell it simply because I won't carry it enough. 4" slipjoints and I just don't see eye to eye :grumpy:

Nathan

I'll be your back-up, if you decide to sell. :D

I have a Chestnut on reserve. I've been saving since April, and have actually been able to use leftover $$ to buy the Bladeforums Traditional, as well as the Bladeforums Kershaw folder, and still have enough to cover the Case/Bose Lanny's clip.

It's amazing what you can do, when you cut out eating out once a week!
